Feburary 26th 2014
Ordered a 1954 strat was told it would have to be a 55 because of "technical issues"
even though they released custom color 1954 strats all year long . no big deal make it a 1955

Rcv guitar and wrong pickguard , wrong neck shape and body drilled for wrong # pickguard screws

No problem Rob Schwarz to the rescue we can do new guitar with whatever specs you want.
great ...

Guitar arrives "the custom Shop Decided to put shielding paint on the inside " I do not want ugly
(even though you can't see it ) black shielding paint on my "1955" strat or I would have asked for it

Rob to the rescue again September 2014 or so now we will do a body like you requested with no
shielding paint (duh )

January ... From Rob " Body is ready to get to Paint send Cary Irwin a Picture to ensure the color is what you want"
Pictures sent ... Email Rob in Feburary " hey did Cary the pics"...
no Response Of Course not Rob no Longer with us

Start over with Justin Stewart " So what is Going on ..." Here we go again
Justin Stewart : Can you send Pics to Cary Irwin at custom shop ? ... We found picture

April 23 or 24 Justin Calls " Your Guitar is ready we are shipping it out ..." 5 days later
we didn't ship it cause you have to return the incorrect one... Ok no big deal

May 5th , incorrect guitar arrives at Fender .... Call Justin Today May 7th

Lee Your new Guitar should be ready ship sometime this week or next ... Are You serious
I thought it was ready 2 weeks ago

I was waiting to post but this is ridiculous and I can't get a straight answer . Fender Please help me out here

I got one of the FCS 60th Anniversary 1954 Heavy Relic Stratocasters in 2-TSB, and I must say I'm very pleased with it. Don't know what exactly all the features you were looking for, but you can't go wrong with these baby's.

Lee!! Weird, the other day I was reviewing in my mind where we ended up and I just ran across this thread.
Glad to see that it all worked out and my apologies for not being able to follow it through to the end. Cary is a great Fender ambassador and all around good guy too. Thanks for the kind words on my behalf, much appreciated. Hope you get a whole bunch of enjoyment outta the guitar, lord knows you've earned it!
All the best,
rob

Rob was trying to help me order a 51 Precision Bass from the Custom Shop. (Apparently it's only a Custom Shop if you're "somebody" in the industry. Otherwise you get leftovers.) He was working his $@! off and trying his best, but it really just seems like FMIC could really give a rat's behind about the individual customer. They cater to the big distributors and the industry darlings who play recycled crap.

So I went with a used Custom Shop 55 P. Rob was probably one of the best examples of the kind of employees that likely existed back when Leo ran the show. You could tell he really cared about the brand, the customers and the instruments. What do we have now? You'll never see me playing a Gibson, but I can certainly understand the frustration. I find it sad that FMIC has basically become the new CBS. The very monster it was created to hunt.

I was frustrated... but the point of my post is how Fender turned everything
around especially because of the efforts of Cary Irwin . That is why my last post
is a video of me playing my 1955 relic Stratocaster which is exactly how I wanted it
and how good it sounds . Fender has retained my Loyalty (even though I own a Gibson or 2 as well)

(PS. you have to have a burst Les Paul in the stable mine is an r8)

+1!

I own a flametop R9 and a '77 LP Standard in Tobacco Burst.

Great guitars.

My r8 is a daves guitar handpicked
Page 85 burst and 59 neck carve
With the flame and specs it is a 59
Just a while lot cheaper cause cert
Says 58 ... But I picked it because of tone anyway

Nice medley!

How are you liking that Victoria 50212?

Sounds pretty tasty to me.

The Stratocaster clip is through a 45410 Victoria
The Les Paul is through the 50212 Victoria
Needless to Say I love Victoria I have owned 4
My main Amp is a Vibro- King , I also run a Two Rock Gainmaster, and Dr Z Kt66 Antidote

But for a grab and go I take my 56 Strat- Barber Direct Drive into 50212 Victoria
That pretty much will do anything I really need

If I ever develop "tweed fever" I'll likely look into Victoria's 5E3 clone. The only thing I never really cared for was their choice of an imported Jensen speaker but that's something that's easily rectified.

The vast majority of my work is as a bassist, and you won't catch me playing a Gibby bass. My guitar work is all for my solo stuff. Electric is only laid in as a layer in the studio and I always use a Tele. Just personal preference. If I was doing cover work on guitar I'm sure I'd have an LP handy.

Ii understand completely . I have played around just a little on the bass
And for that instrument there is no equal to what Fender has to offer as with almost all Leo's designs you
Can not improve perfection . IMO
Funny thing is the pinnacle of almost everyguitar or amp I would dream to own be it fender, gibson , gretsch or
Marshall is between 1952 and 1969
Almost everything still being made is trying to capture that time.
