That's why he always has a backup for such reasons.

Unfortunately he's unable to rock a song with 5 strings anymore.

FYI he already broke a string while performing Little Queen Of Spades during a gig at Dallas in 2013; the closing solo and Cocaine were played on a sunburst ES335.

Ha! My thoughts exactly.

Not sure what he uses these days (I imagine someone may know  ). Last time I saw any solid info it was EB 10-46 Regular Slinkys, but that may have changed. Unusual to have breakages two nights running.. but not impossible of course. Maybe it's those new EPC Rosso picks he's using

FYI: I'm going to post a thread on the Strat forum with some update info on the Phase One Clapton shortly.

Eric no longer uses Ernie Ball strings, he switched to D'Addario EXL110s a few weeks before his 50th Anniversary tour in 2013.

In fact his relationship with D'Addario dates from the 2nd half of 2009; from that date he began using their straps on his personal stage axes. This association with the Farmingdale giant became more evident after Lee Dickson's departure in 2010.

The folks back at the factory in Farmingdale, NY must be tearing their hair out!! I wonder though if their might be an issue with the break angle on the bridge saddles of these new guitars.

Perhaps he must bring back his old EC Grey for the remaining 4 shows? Just a thought.

Negatory. All they have to do is the mod Diaz did for SRV. Small sections of plastic tubing covering the strings where they pass through the saddles.

Cesar Diaz? The guy who was behind the original modded '57 tweed Twin Eric used throughout the last four decades?

From my understanding it's the Diaz-modded '57 tweed Twin which served as a basis for his current stage and studio amps and the signature Twinoluxes Fender actually produces.

Well I was 'jonesing' for a '64 Vibroverb Custom until Mesa reissued the Boogie Snakeskin.

That was Rene Martinez not Diaz.
