Hey everybody,

I'm planning to order a team built Custom Shop Strat, a 1960 NOS, via a large Fender dealer. Everything's cool, but there's just one thing he couldn't really answer yet: the standard nut width of the CS 1960 Strat is 1.65 inch, but I'd like to have 1.6875 inch. The Fender quote sheet doesn't have any options on choosing nut widths, so my dealer doubted it's possible to get a different width, unless it's master built guitar.

I can hardly imagine that, since Fender has always produced guitars with different nut widths, so it should be easy for the Custom Shop, no matter if team or master built :)

So do you guys know if it's possible to get a CS 1960 NOS width a nut width of 1.6875 inch?

Thanks,
Erik

Ask to Fender consumer relation .

It is these people who will built the guitar , not forum member.

I'm sure you can ask everything if money it is not a problem .

No, the people at the consumer relation are not the people who'll build the guitar at the Custom Shop. I need a really reliable info if it's possible or not.
I don't want to wait for weeks for a reply of the consumer relation which then might go something like "If the quote sheet doesn't give the option, it's not possible". Especially since that's what my dealer said, too, but without having any first hand info from the people who build the guitars.

While first hand info seems to be impossible to get for me, I hope that at least someone of you got a first hand info for himself before - so does anyone know something about 1.6875'' vs. 1.65'' for a CS 1960 Strat? Or maybe someone knows a way to get a reliable first hand info (for example a direct CS mail address or something like that)?

If the dealer where you 'll ordered the guitar is serious, he can have the answer for you from Fender

Many forum member who write to fender Customer relation receive answer .

The only thing that might be of relevance on the page linked to could be ...
Quote:
Locate a Fender Custom Shop Showcase Dealer near you who's knowledgeable staff will talk with you and help get your ideas in motion.

If Erik is talking to the wrong person (ie not a Fender Custom Shop Showcase Dealer) then his questions are never going to get to be heard by the right people, because the channel for asking the question doesn't exist.

I don't think his request would cause too much of a problem for the guys at the Custom Shop, but there might be sound reasons as to why they don't offer the option.

Maybe Rob Shwarz could be of some considerable help?

Hi Erik RS and all,
While its true that our Consumer Relations folks aren't in the Custom Shop, or in manufacturing for that matter, they can and will and do answer all questions like this one to the best of their ability-----which means...if they don't know, they will reach out to someone who does, assuming it's a reasonable question. This sounds like a reasonable question to me.
and the answer is yes, we do offer the 1.650” or 1.6875” nut width option on any vintage and contemporary style Team Built level guitar. I've been told that they will put this into the quote guide going forward.
Hope that helps!
All the best,
rob

Hi Rob,

thank you very much for your info! Yes, it helps very much, because now I know I can actually get the guitar exactly as I want to, so next week I'll go to my dealer to set up the order.

Thanks,
Erik
