I see The Custom Shop is putting out a new limited edition to celebrate the instruments of the 50's. They are touting "two pivotal model years". 1951 and 1954. Sounds like a really nice collection with no Precision bass model and some modern radius fingerboards...

I like the look of this, it's very reminiscent of David Gilmour's 0001 :)

They are gorgeous. Very reminiscent of the 51 P basses they did a few years back. However, much like these guitars. These "51" P basses were spoiled with non-vintage specs. Such as medium jumbo frets and a stacked pick up instead of the single coil.

Very beautiful pieces. The Dirty White Blonde Strat and Cimarron Tele are stunning. However, calling instruments 50's anything is pretty silly. These are as 50's as a Squier Classic Vibe guitar.

Here's a pic of one of the Precisions. I'd have loved to have seen the Custom Shop put these out with correct neck/electronic specs and include the P's. I would have jumped on one for sure if it played like a 51.

They look nice but I am just not a fan of the relic fretboard.
They seem stuffed even before you begin.
I'm not knocking the relic feel but prefer the closet classic. :D

I'm not a fan of either honestly. My 55 was a NOS that I picked up used. So it's kind of like having it done for a discount. However, I would never turn down an instrument for simply being relic'd or having the closet classic wear. if I played one and bonded with it I would buy it. I have played a relic'd CS P bass. It played nice. Not like real wear nice, but it was nice. I just couldn't vibe with the instrument.
