First off, I really like the new Fender Am. Std. Jaguar Bass. But I am a guy of simplicity, so I'd like something simpler in switching, just like a P or J, but yet different. The bass I had in mind has two humbuckers, not unlike the Blacktop P and J basses, but with some switching options. This bass has passive electronics though. The color and hardware would be my personal choice.

I'm sure the guys at the CS would be excited to build it for you. They must be sick and tired to build relic strats et teles all day long:)

Not my cup of tea, but that is absolutely gorgeous and well thought out. I don't think any of those features are on a signature bass. So you should be good. If you go for it definitely keep us posted. There is nowhere near enough bass action in this forum.

My original thought was some kind of Fender T-Bird with mahogany body and "updated" Wide Range humbuckers:

But I don't know if I would have been lucky with that kind of bass.

I'm sure they'd build it, but the first bass is literally stunning. I'm a super simplicity kind of guy, but even I can't deny that it's jaw dropping. I like the idea of the switchable passive BT buckers. I've never been a fan of onboard pre-amps, ect. The old school wide range Fender Buckers are cool, too. However, there's something just really put together about the first design you posted. It honestly looks like something you'd see on the higher end basses. The pan pot is a really cool idea for the middle knob. I honestly think the only thing I could think to add would be to make the Master Tone and Volume into independent stack knob pots where so you have full control over each pick up. However, that would certainly run the risk of being "too much". The Jag-bird is cool is a simple stripped looking way, but if you're going to be looking at a master-built bass. You should get something that spoils you, and that first Jag bass certainly does the trick. It's gorgeous. Though, if you kept the first design you posted and replaced the BT buckers with the old school Wideranger bucks you could do gold covers. Which would make it absolutely decadent in all the right ways.
