I'm looking to get a new guitar and I think I'm leaning towards a 50's strat reissue of some sort and I'm trying to decide if it's worth it to go for a masterbuilt over customer shop this time. Does anyone know what accounts for the increase in price for masterbuilt strats?

Does anyone have experience playing them or have an opinion on it?

You'll probably get better response in the Custom Shop forum, but in short, a masterbuild is more expensive, and the wait time is measured in years. On the plus side, you can get more customization options - there are many things that you cannot get in a team built which you can in a masterbuild.

If you want an electric blue fretless strat with a platypus inlay, you have no choice - you have to find a masterbuilder who is willing to make it, and wait, wait and wait. Then wait some more.
"When you're ready" is really "When you're ready, we're not".

Speaking of masterbuilt or custom shop, I came across this bizarre photo today and thought I'd post it for curiosity purposes!

Not bad aye?!!? 8)
