Don't want anyone to take offence by mentioning this.

There is a site called mailto:gtrsus@aol.com contact BIGAL that makes a replica case for the '54.

They also make the brown "thermometer" case for the tele as well.

Again I hope that no-one m uinds me trying to help a fellow Feder member.

I don't understand the reason(s) for not divulging how many of these were made. Could you please explain? Thanks.

As far as I know there were 1954 gutars made.

However not all of them were available to the general public.

About 150 were given to Fender supporters and stars.

I believe that my friend Albert Lee got o n e which he played at the Strat Pack concert.

Maybe you are confusing the 40th and 50th anniversary 1954 Strats.
There were only 1954 of the 40th anniversary versions in 1994. They were numbered. Their price was also set at US$1954.

The 1954 40th Anniv Strats (1954 made) came with 2 cases. The Brown Molded case (no logos sewn in) and a Molded hard shell case with a plaque on the guitar indicating it is a case for the 40th anniv. Strat.

These guitars while resembling custom shops in almost everyway were not made by the custom shop, but let me assure you they are incredible Strats.

I have a 50th Anniv Custom Shop case (brown with the logo sewn in), also have many of the blue interior Custom Shop Limited cases and 2 green interior Custom Shop limited David Gilmour cases (have a limited edition case fetish)

These Custom Shop cases can (with the exception of the Gilmour case) all be found on a certain very popular auction site.

We don't get into how many were made unless they are a limited number that is set at the beginning of the run. There were not many, but that is usually up to one's personal opinion. If it was 100, it would be "not enough", if it was 4,000 it would be "too many, and they're mass producing...etc".

This stuff "fogs" the secondary market for collectability. The guitar was made for a year, and we only took and built orders during that time.

Plus, I've seen that some have been parted out, on that "large auction site" as well, which reduced the overall number.

I'd love to be able to use the strap that came with my Strat, but it is way too short to be usable!
Anyone have any idea where I could find an identical, but usable, strap.
The original was made in Canada, but doesn't have any maker's name on it.

This was a great post that turned into some drama and I have to say it was all enjoyable. Yaknski I have to tip my cap to you for loving the guitar so much and thinking about doing something that you feel will make it play better even though that move could be right or wrong, as I would never know more about the workings of a guitar than Mike in two lifetimes and he says no, but the shear joy you showed to want to gig your guitar rather than hang it like a clock on the wall shows you are a true player at heart and thats what it is all about making music. I respect you very much for that..
