What pickup settings do you have on your MBs? Can you share the distances from the bottom of the strings to the top of the magnets on the low e and high e strings?

Has any 50th MB owners bought the 60th vintage series 54? I would really like to hear a comparison from someone with both.

Understood. Unfortunately, I was not in the market for that guitar 10 years ago. Had other priorities. :?

Same here, there isn't really a lot of info about these available online.

I have both, I have my 60th 1954 (it's one of the 1st54) since about 3 weeks and I love it. It is actually closer to the real thing than the 50th anniversary. Mostly cosmetic things, but I have to say I enjoy this new anniversary guitar very much. The finish on it is much thinner, like the old ones, and I like the color of the sunburst a lot. The PU's sound great and the workmanship is outstanding. The neck feels really great, at least to me, I like the neck better than on the 50th. The guitar is lightweight, around 7.1lbs. Tonewise it is not better, but different. In a good way.

I can only talk about mine, but if they all like this, no need to go CS.

I agree...its a great guitar. In terms of comparisons, the headstock carving caught my eye. I noted that the line angle contours appear to be more rounded, less sharp and defined than on my later model Strats...e.g. Gilmour, Clapton. I wonder, did the 50th Anniversary guitar also show the same difference.

Yes, the 50th Anniversary CS Strats are also rounded as the 60th. I noticed on some 50th CS Anniversary Strats the fretboard edges are not as rolled off.
I guess when orders picked up in '55 they didn't spent the time to sand the edges as much anymore, as you noticed on the later '50s and '60s Strats.

56strat, if you have the time, it would be great to see some side by side pics, also under pickgaurd shots, I know it's a lot to ask, but it would sure be apprecriated. There are none of these around to check out, and even though I said my 50th would be my last guitar purchase(with the exception of a second one)these have gotten my attention.

No problem with the side by side picture, under the hood picture will take some time. These 60th '54 are different compared to the 50th. I think if you find a good one, it makes more sense to get one of these instead a 2nd 50th. I really like the attention to the details on these 60th, the finish thickness is very much like my early '56 Strat. They will get their real relicing very soon, just like the old ones.

Thanks 56strat, any pics you can put up would be appreciated, I really don't want to spend the $, but I remember when the 50th's came out something told me to get one, I wished I had, and years later spent a lot of time and more $ to find a good used one.I just get the feeling I should get one of these while they are still around new this time.

I really like this video, it shows how thin the finish is on these.
