Sean,

Extremely cool upgrade to your fine site. Now it's so easy to find a specific serial number if you want to. It's also a very extensive reference database of the MB54's and could be as valuable as a COA in the future. Well done :D My hat off to you sir. How many are there now?

Excellent new design. :)

It's a bit slow to load, though, maybe it has to do because I'm overseas ?

Good job ! :D

Thanks, yes, I've noticed that site is a bit slow, given the large amount of images. I'll try to fix that this week.

There are 447 image of the guitars themselves, and a total of 299 identified serial numbers (I may remove the unidentified pictures).

Sean,

Are you still adding MB 54 to your site ?

Here's #4056, by Greg Fessler.

Very nice! My Fessler MB '54 is s/n 4059. I wonder if it was the next one he made after yours. -Marty

Txs !

There's definitely a "family" look when you peek at Sean's site, specially on number 4055, 4056 and 4059.

Ah, seeing 4055 and 4056, I'm guessing the masterbuilders were given a series of serial numbered back-plates. If that is the case, Fessler would have made a couple more between 4056 & 4059. Yes, there are similarities in the different MB's work. I remember the Dennis G masterbuilt '54's had horizontal line crazing.

I tend to agree, I try to keep in mind that not all of these guitars were photographed and shared on the interwebs, but I keep hoping that someday we'll be able to complete the collection.

Fender continues to raise prices on their masterbuilt guitars. I remember the street price on the MB '54 was around 3.5K and stayed at that price for some years. Now the MB relics are starting at $4400 and going up from there with many hitting over 6K. I haven't seen any that I would take over a MB '54 with it's unique features. While I thought the MB '54 had a steep price back when - I now feel quite fortunate I got one for the price I did!

I've got one too. Built by Mark Kendrick and just recently purchased. Not sure how long it sat in the store but it came with all the goodies including the original shipping box. This has quickly become my main guitar. It sounds very full and balanced when plugged into my Deluxe Reverb reissue. When strummed unplugged, the whole guitar vibrates like it has a life of its own. http://www.flickr.com/photos/25329326@N02/

Your old John Cruz? Is this to say you don't have it anymore...and if not, what made you part with it?

Yep, #4110 has gone elsewhere. Why? I finally fell out of love with the 7.25" radius and sold all my guitars that had it.
