Hey man... lot's of fake everything out there... When you have an envioronment that harbors it... and profits greatly from it... it's gonna be a serious prob.

Anyways... It's not all on Fender to deal w/ this problem... Which is what it seems most folks feel about it.

Think about it... "Not a clue"... don't think so... but of course... this all IMHO
Enjoy :D

Yep I agree Ebay does very little.
A while back I saw pics of one of my own strats that was selling elsewhere.
I notfied them that the auction was fake about 4 times and they did nothing including not even bothering to reply.
I was able to contact the german who one the auction ( this was when you actually saw who won) and he was spared tha agony but never bothered to leave negative feedback.
Probably thought I was part of it.
The next person who bought a guitar from the bogus vendor got cheated.
Fortunately they run buyer protection so at least buyers are covered to some degree but in the end who pays for that.. :D

Just returned from a cruise-tour of the Asia hitting ports from Singapore to Beijing. The big thing over there, for the ladies, are 'fabulous fakes', in the line of handbags, other leather accessories, and watches. In Shanghai, there's a sign posted at the entrances to the most popular market for that stuff. It states that the Chinese government prohibits trade in conterfeits, and lists the designers. It's business as usual, nothwithstanding. Kind of reminds me of that scene in the movie "Casablanca'' when Louie shuts down "Ricks'' on the charge of illegal gambling and is immediately thereafter handed his winnings.

You all seem adept at pointing out fakes which is good and I applaud you for pointing out the problem.
However, as someone who would like to buy some Fender Custom Shop parts, including a neck, how do I avoid these scams?

Buy from someone either you or Fender or both trust, like a licensed dealer.

How do you know which dealers are to be trusted?
