It still makes me weep to see dozens of folks buying the $600 fake necks on the ebay.com. These guys are raking it in on cheap necks and sometimes bodies. They have very correct looking stamps and decal but lack some fine details that give the game away. Quite often they use Jason Davis masterbuilt decals. Everyone of the items has a cerise and gold braided cloth as a backdrop. Please spread the word. I have seen well over a hundred now.
Have contacted the various sellers and always had the same replies of denial. One seller seems to have made his way to the Uk As they are now appearing here.
Fender, do you ever do anything to stop the fakes? They are making your good name look very bad with these cheap imitations.

I would suggest that Fender find a better, fool proof way to label their parts. Perhaps a bar code which could be scanned and verified through the Fender Custom Shop.

Speaking of CS ebay sellers. Does anyone know how reputable "vintageguitarcollector" is? I've been eyeballing a used CS Precision he has up and asked him about the neck specs and he ignored it. Which means he probably doesn't know. Which doesn't make him very reputable to me.

Another Jason Davis Masterbuilt neck on today at $877. Are you there Fender? The fraudsters have all your stamps cloned now! They even fooled one of the Uks biggest dealers of Fender Custom Shop guitars. They had one of these Davis built guitars for sale till I pointed the little error in the detail out.
Does anyone have a proper contact email for Jason Davis, and not the one the seller sent me last time claiming he got his neck direct from Jason Davis. Had a jdavis gmail address and fake emails puppoeting to be from Jason.

Buyers need to beware. All things, to include COAs and decals, can be faked. The question in my mind is, "What can Fender do?"

Fender could take a page from the US Mint. They could use special color shifting ribbons to at to their logo, or a bar code buyers could look up to confirm pedigree.

Blimey, a $1499 fake Jason Davis neck on today, getting pricey now! I have bought a full Masterbuilt Tele for less!

Creative idea :!:
We've had many discussions about this sort of thing.['reliablefender' and 'Strato-sphere'-
guitar chop shop, for example...selling neck plates in particular] Coming from overseas sources, the company has no recourse with regard to counterfeiting. Of course, it would be naïve for me to think that we could ask for a total drop in demand for these items, wouldn't it. The alternative would be for Fender to go into the supply side, at reasonable cost to the consumer, and undercut these sellers. Don't expect that to ever happen. There are so many issues which bother us that don't appear to impact on FMIC. Thus, customer loyalty to the marque set aside, why give damn if they don't? Let caveat emptor prevail.

Lol, dreadful supposed Fred Stuart Masterbuilt Tele body on there today at $1899. All this is damaging the brand, There will now be hundreds of fake Custom Shop guitars out there that hundreds of buyers will show to their friends who will not be overly impressed and thus declare their MIM guitar no worse and thus tell others and so on.
But yes, you may be right FMIC does not care. The old guys at the CS used to. Not sure even who runs it anymore. I know the name on the COA's has changed....earth to Tom Montgomery are you there? Anybody there? Is the CS now a ghost ship? Its me Mr Custom Shop from the UK....the guy that has spent north side of a quarter of a million on FCS guitars....lol. Talk to me...talk to us...hello...hello....come look after the little guy! Don't be shy introduce yourself....we don't bite!!

Another Jason Davis fake Strat neck on today for $1299. They all look over cooked. Different sellers, this one in Arizona but obviously the same guy making them. They seem to be having a run of necks with the J.Servin stamp on too at the moment.

Fender has more legal muscle in the States with respect to countefeiting IF they choose to pursue it. Abroad, don't even waste your ink in protest.

I have called Fender Customer Service, given them the ebay item number (or seller details), so that they can directly see for themselves. Maybe better to call instead of posting here.

Frankly... how I see it... the real prob is ebay itself....
Fender has legal muscle but... ebay allows this crap all the time.. they've been allowing it for years!
Why?...
because they make stupid huge $$$ on listing fees... picture fees... featured listing fees... seller fees... final value fess... you name it... it's sickening.

I wouldn't be surprised if for Fender to go after the sellers of these fake necks and bodies
etc...... ebay's on Fender's $@! to stop Fender from taking these clowns off!!!

Don't blame Fender... blame the disgusting sham/scam that ebay has become. they're the one's that should be in the cross hairs... Fender has no control over what ebay allows to take place on their marketplace... and has been allowing to happen for a heck of a long time now.
Just my 2 cents on it.
