Best thing is to contact Fender directly @ 480-596-9690. I've had good response about questions like yours. Give them serial # and they will let you know everything they have in their data base about your guitar.

Fender "vintage" frets, and a 7.25 radius.

The fret specs I got from an old Fender Frontline magazine, and the board radius, because the guitar is one of the "Time Machine" series, would be the same as an original, with a 7.25" radius.

You could try making one of these though I have yet to try it myself so am not sure how accurate they are

Similar templates can be bought in plastic ... Note to self I should get one...
The radius could well be 7.25 but since one spec has been changed i.e. C neck where normally the 69 has a U any other spec could be too.
Your strat may precede the Time Machine Series which was introduced around 1999 which is possibly why Fenders reply says it is part of the Custom Classic series
I have a 69 "time machine" and it has a C neck since I prefer that to the U.
How about some photos to keep us going?

jimmy-james, of course you are right. In 1997 it wouldn't have been a Time Machine yet, so my assumption may be wrong. My bad!

Hey there Butterscotch how's it going?
You are probably on the button and it could still well be 7.25 I just did not want to rule anything out :D
I tried printing a radius card like I suggested and it turned out about half the size its meant to be... back to the drawing board! :D

I've got some plastic radius gauges from the back of a Dan Erlewine book, which I use sometimes to set saddle curves. There really is very little difference visually between 7.25 and 9.5, but they do feel different! :)

The custom shop were doing mostly 9.5 radius under John Page. The dreaded 7.25 was Mr E's doing. I would say it would be thus a 9.5 with certainly vintage frets. If you post a pic of the nut and first fret I can usually tell.
