Well week nne is now in play since i made multiple calls to Fender "custom care" (my arse)

i have a 2010 esquire CS with BG1400...list of 6K...

i play it maybe a few times a year....6th string tuner scalloped teeth won't hold tune

calle multiple times to fender "custom care" (tongue in cheek here) :x

to get EITHER the damn gear from the tuner to replace mine and KEEP my heavy relic patina or another aged tuner the guitar was purchased march 2011

6 calls down there and one posting

IMHO don't buy into the custom care BS because it's BS

good thing i have a bunch of guitars....now it would be nice to bring my dead esquire back to life

BTW, it is obvious to me a DEFECT WHY...?????

no grease in it...none, NADA my belief is the aging process takes the grease out somehow

BECAUSE i opened up a couple more of my currently useless 6K guitar's tuners...grease what grease?

now they are greased too bad i didn't know of these defects or i would have greased all of them

QC/R&D why not take a few apart and lookie for grease, write a freaking ECO to GREASE them AFTER the patina is made.

just call me pissed at fender for the first time since '68 WTH happened to customer service?

and please send me my damn tuner or gear...my data is in your registration database or the notes append but the dudes who NEVER called back although they said on three occasions they would

wondering about quality assurance and customer service...need a new manager? i ran a killer operation with 120 medical repair personnel we were top rated

cuz i gave a SH&% about customer service....

or i'd be happy to sell the guitar back to you....Rollo

as it's a lemon at the moment

Hi rollo, if you ever get a chance, try a guitar show if one comes near enough for you to attend.
Sometimes there will be some vendors there with a nice verity of Fender Custom Shop parts.
This may not be the route you want to go but it may be worth a shot.

Hi Rollo,
Sorry to hear about your dissatisfaction.
I checked our records, found some contact in May and an order placed for the tuner on the same day.
Unfortunately,on parts like these, because we normally don't sell these, and the parts are customized (relic'd in this case), they aren't stored in our distribution center, and sometimes a "normal" order doesn't do the trick.

At any rate, apologies for the hassle, we'll try to get the tuner to you direct from the shop asap.

All the best,
rob

Sorry Pro too,
and when i drop big i expect the details to be taken care of had that occured while in set/on a gig ...PIA but not a arrow in the heart, have kept fender from bankruptcy buying guitars and amps since the 60's I have VERY little time on the guitar i play others too..in reality less than 100 hrs at best, at best.

i know the problem and they should address it...simple as that i have done many tirages before on complex to simplistic stuff...

what is going on is simple

the aging process is sucking all the grease out OR DID for the HEAVY relic.....

all FENDER has to do is;
1) grease them before or after assembly to a guitar (after all it is a CUSTOM SHOP built limited run....do ya think the QC process might need a tweak...if not i don't wanna ride on your rocket ship

2) have whoever makes them grease them after aging or include a tube and let the buyer do it

i have had 60+ fenders easy and some like my fullerton real axe (meaning it was new now IS a relic) served me well it's bad to the bone and has served me flawlessly for decades with just motor oil and or some teflon../ lith grease same with my others

the ONLY problem in many years of playing and some i have had are relic'd guitars..not HEAVY relic like this one...too many wraps around the sixth string pulled the peg out (not a screwed down to the gear but swaged type)

NEVER have i had a relic fail, (they certainly can't now cuz i went through all of them and packed them with lithium until the black grease oozed out... (ABM white tube smallish hole press had it goes in fills the chamber out oozes air or worn gear shavings...ACE or Home Depot has it patience needed - works great ABM)

I highly suggest it to ANYONE with the tuners i have or new ones for that matter...BECAUSE

i took apart one of the tuners on my 2012 namm tele...the grease ball...less than the size of a Q tip wasn't even touching the gear or screw/jack (just bought this NOS -a true find i might add this one at least ABM now...)

killer product-killer customer service smiles everywhere

i have been really nice (listen to the audit tapes) and am in week 10...of simply asking for a gear or tuner for a 6K list guitar i LOVE to death but cannot play unless i wanna do honky tonk woman and get really ugly...and arthritic

working on it

no biggie the shaming is about to take place

yeah 6K guitars made with routers and tooling....i chose to pay for it..but i expect the DETAILS to be correct from the CUSTOM SHOP and with CUSTOM service otherwise what is custom-hype?

custom my arse-so far we'll see -cuz i have given them another two weeks today i call again

i had really nifty pics taken so when post them you can see exactly what i see a butt dry empty housing with a gear gaulled mostly unusable and will not hold 6th string tension - really useful on stage, but i don't use a guitar tech.

and all i asked for was a friggin gear....not 6 tuners, not 20 bucks and not a date with their sista's

a friggin...gear or tuner i can either use or suck the gear from it...that's all

what is that 25c gar and postage i think the 4K+ i spent for the gutar...calls for service

and i never in 41+ years have asked them to fix anything this isn't an anomaly but they need to look into that stuff....cuz

Dude, i ran a large customer service medical operation in chatsworth before we moved to redmond wa in 1985

you want your customers smiling over insignificance or over significant matters

NOW i guess ONE way to approach it and it has gone through my mind

well it's hey relic beat up guitar from the "50s" after all i did add the gotta have cigerate burn to the headstock so it's UGLY maybe it need a new tuner so i can put a nice shiney one on what and send the bill to Fender QC? and then i will have perhaps a cheekier Esquire i gotta think on that because....it is a way to make this thing worse ugly than it is

but DAAAAAAMN it sounds and plays like words i wanna say but can't...in that respect the builder NAILED it

with regard to DETAILS will i have a tuner to shove somewhere....but not on my geetar

5 beat the hell up tunes and a nice shiney one...

reminds me of going to clubs in Oakland, i stuck out like a sore thumb until the geetar came out the case.

BTW it IS under warranty too....

A great place to go had this been out of warrenty

matter of fact a friend of mine that croaked under his Jag awhile back HAD THEE goldmine of parts

"Randy's Parts" Vint geetar mag add -was a neighbor could get anything from him....or he from me

Mike Lull will be 'da man if Fender doesn't step up...he has a stash but he's mainland i am on the island and need a better excuse to go to bellevue....

he greases his customers guitars -ask Paul Allen sometime...about Mike's attention to detail...

fender just on custom shops ....attention to detail - but one COULD argue they did...by selling them "de-greased" so to speak....the damn things will fail like they have been on the guitar 60 years so i guess they "nailed it"

Thanks aspiring and stay with it...many cool doors can open :)

ROB, thank you please look at the transcriptions and see if they attempted to call me if so and to my cell....well i may have missed the calls because

forgetful mad scientist type damn thing is lost all the time...

Rob if the tuner is a hassle all i need is the gear..and i can send my gear back to you for your QC guys to look at mine is a screwed on black gear type with black phillip machine screw not a swedgie.

first failure ever on a "kluson' other than caused by me.

there is an issue with the heavy relic and the minor relic of the namm i have..opened up no grease just a nibble (a new axe never sold) with bigs...best tele out of 40 or so i have had telewise...(Abbies) 680pf bypass on the vol....

not a hassle because i have many teles and stuff but it's my ugly buddy.....it is so so so damn good sounding with the BG1400 and recapped greasebucket

i have been locked in a lab for months now (and am currently in JAIL at ho,me for four more days so no gigs to worry about

fast red cars on small islands -bad thing

see if they tried to send me mail, i updated all my mails etc...

i'll look but if they would have sent me a note...

then all would have been cool

thanks Rob -knew you guys would spit out a gear

Hi Rollo,
Again sorry for the delay. There's a set shipping to you today.
I would normally PM ya, but since we're all public and stuff anyway, here's your tracking...
https://www.fedex.com/fedextrack/html/index.html?tracknumbers=610712353962&cntry_code=us

Note: I don't disagree with you that if they are not being lubed after the relicing process...they should be.

All the best,
rob

Rob's da Man. Pity that, after all these years with the Forum members pitching issues and advice, the company still has to get it wrinkle irons out. :?

Hello Rob,
Thanks to Fred C in the C/shop...but ya didn't have to go overboard.......thanks

the esquire is twanging again and i can play more than honky tonk woman now....

never had issues with tuners on a fender EVER even when pro years ago and beating the heck outta my teles sand, grit, heat, rain...drops...never had an issue

now if i could JUST find my grease...drives me crazy..

so i Borrowed the tuner from the "package" and will return it when i fix my tuner because my tuners musta been aged by a cat who knows what the old country cats did when playing a tele over and over 365 x 7 cuz mine are VILE as in horrifyingly vile if i had them tested every disease known to mankind would be living there...

the ones sent are nicer ...less gnarly than my BUTT ugly tuners...but i paid EXTRA for that

i have a friend who is OCD in a big way about guitars and other stuff

he thinks it's madness when i took my too shiny byrdland's 1993 parts and sent to Quebec to be aged to an early 60's look IMPECCABLE i might add.....and put it all back on and now all is well

drives him insane...like when i told him what i paid for the ugliest most beat to crap guitar i have ever owned and it plays like butter....that is the esquire....(with a nocaster stamped body and date on my birthday 2010...and it was serendipity

i shall return that gear to the set and with the massive collection of parts i shall build a think line...never had one a thinline parts guitar and i bet it sounds great...

thanks again Rob

Thanks Rob and Fred C :D

Hi Rob while out here greasing turnbuckles i got to thinking-a bad sign indeed

On the custom shop or the special runs with aged parts or for that matter any american stand or above why not start educating folks about grease instead of 3M, 40 weight, veggie oil or grease from the suspension shackles of an original Yugo.

when i was a kid of 14 buying a 69 tele with bigsby off the rack...in 69 had i been told that i was supposed to use GREASE instead of 3M oil (i was picking before the Web existed) so i was clueless even the G/players mags etc for years never addressed that issue best i can remember

So here's the big noodle;

Because of your name, the numbers of custom and non custom shop axes that use aged stuff...

or NEW american standard and above ...have a lube manufacture come up with a small lube tube with a nozzle sized correctly.give it a part number and offer it as a replacement for the original grease tube the original buyer may have used up so offering it as a part number might bring in a few bucks...and go a long way in making folks happy by;

educating the unknowingcuz like me, many probably look at the tiny hole and simply use 3M oil and i would STILL be doing that had i not stumbled on to a forum where it was being addressed (FDP) maybe to use lithium grease well damn how do you get it in that damn tiny hole...simple

Fender offers a new tube of lithium grease with the nozzle sized and the tube sized to be able to reside in a person's maint kit(s)/guitar case for the axes....part number FMIC.....

thanks agon Rob abd Fred C -Rollo
