How about a Nancy Wilson signature model! She plays a lake placid blue Tele with matching headstock and she also has a red Stratocaster. :D

Decidedly you're a fan of famous Tele babes: after Chrissie Hynde it's now Nancy Wilson's turn to endorse a signature guitar!

Well, who's next? Meredith Brooks, Melissa Etheridge or Suzie Tedeschi?

None of the artists you have mentioned. How about James Burton's 50's red Telecaster, not the MIA edition! I am not a fan of Tele babes. I admire guitar players, if they happened to be women, so be it! :D

Much like I brought up in the Chrissy Hynde thread. On top of being an issue of artist and public interest. Generally artist series instruments are based off instruments that have unique features or specs. Whether through fate and their initial construction. (as with Nate Mendel's Precision bass with a rare nut width) or through artist mods to those instruments. (Gilmour and Clapton are good examples) I have no idea how particular Nancy is about her Teles. As a guitarist first and foremost she may have very specific tastes. Or she may be more like Hynde and many other artists who could really careless about what they play. Hynde stated in an interview that she just likes the way they play (Teles) and has no knowledge or care to know what goes into making them fit her so well. She doesn't know one Tele from the next. It's hard to build an artist instrument around that. Sheryl Crow loves her Teles, too. She certainly had the popularity to warrant one at one time, and could possibly still carry it. However, whether there is any interest is the question. If an artist doesn't care about what they play outside of the fact that it plays well for them. Then it becomes kind of a hard sell on Fender's part. I'm surprised they haven't approached Keith Urban yet about a sig model. From the interviews I've seen he seems to have found specs that he particularly likes in his Teles. (the cabronita neck, with a more traditional pick up configuration) An artist like that who is very particular about what they do and don't like would seem like a much easier project to manage and sell. If the artist doesn't care what model Tele they pick up, what neck it has, what pick ups, or anything else. Why should the customer care about their opinion?

Also here's an excerpt from a recent interview:

Interviewer: "Do you have a favorite guitar that you're using now?

Wilson: "I have a favorite blue Telecaster. It’s an old '60-something, which I play at every show. That’s probably my favorite all-around stage guitar. I have a Gibson Thinline that I designed the body shape of, which I used a lot on the Fanatic album that I’m going to shake out. I might trot out the Paul Reed Smith 12-string with the dragon inlays. I’m going to see of that will work on some of the new songs.

And there’s an old Sunburst Strat that I’m thinking about. Crank it up and see how fast it will go. Then there’s the new signature Nancy Wilson Martin, but there’s also a brand-new black Cosmo and Wilson Martin of which there are only two -- for me and Ann -- which she had made for me for Christmas and my birthday. She we’ll have to see who makes that cut on this new album."

So while the Tele may be her favorite. (Currently) She seems to have a working relationship with Martin, and a more intimate relationship with Gibson when it comes to designing a body shape. The fact that she describes it as a "60's something" Tele and the other guitars she is more particular about is interesting. One would think if the Tele is her favorite stage guitar and the Gibson she felt like designing a body shape for that perhaps a signature Fender might not be a bad idea at all. At least from a player's standpoint.

One that fits her more naturally with some mods in the tone circuit and a non-traditional pick up option to give her the ability to get some Gibby style tones along with the Tele tones she likes.

In the end, while Nancy is certainly worthy of the prestige of a sig model. I don't know if the interest is really there on the public's part.

The NW Martin HD-35 was made in 2006 and only 101 were made. They are no longer manufactured.

That doesn't change the fact that she has a stronger relationship with Gibson and Martin then she does with Fender. Again, I think it'd be a matter of three things. Fender's interest, Nancy's interest, and market interest. That last one drives the first. So if Fender isn't doing it. It's because there is either no interest in the market they deem worthy of chasing, or Nancy doesn't want to do it. Or more than likely. Both.

I agree I would not think fender would have any interest. I wouldn't think there would be a market.

There seems to be more male artist having signature guitars than the female rockers. Where is the love for the female rockers Fender! Nancy Wilson is very talented and a gifted rocker, and yes I would buy a Fender Telecaster with her name on it, as with Chrissie Hynde's Telecaster. Some of the guitars that have a guys name on it, I wonder who the heck they are, and what have they done to deserve a signature guitar. Times are changing and women rock! :D
