I think that you misunderstood the answer, or didn't bother reading, as we both answered the question of the advantage of the decked bridge over a hard-tail.

...as EC himself stated, the springs and steel bridge block add something to the tone that you just can't get with a non-trem bridge. There is a bit of reverb added to the sound with the springs stretched tightly, and the bridge being decked will no doubt add some sustain and resonance...

... what's the benefit of having a factory blocked vibrato, as opposed to no vibrato at all?

My answer to that would be "resale value". A Strat with normal trem would be an easier sell at likely a higher price than a hardtail. I might be wrong, but that is my opinion.

Also the ability to unblock it at your convenience. With no vibrato at all, such as a hard tail, you'd have replace the bridge. With a blocked trem, simply remove block and perform setup. Not happy, reinsert block and repeat setup. Easy breezy.... :D. No harm, no foul, and most importantly no cost.

Oh, and I'd like to add that you've got one heck of a beautiful master built guitar there Shaky. Congrats.

A very nice one indeed, and I am also right at the 3 year mark from him, due any day now. Also, supposedly with the last Abby 69's.... gotta love it.

Have you been in email contact with him? That was a nice touch. "Do you want a string tree on this one... well Todd old chap."

I think they must have bought Abby out of retirement. Did you see my thread about wanting what I ordered and di you have the same problem?

Looking forward to seeing your new Master Built.

Yeah, I have been in contact on and off throughout the whole thing, and I guarantee they did not bring her out of retirement, I just think he got a few more done at the end than was let on, which is fine. And really good for all involved.

To be honest, I had lost interest a little after three years. Almost forgot what I ordered. No big deal, I put away £20 a week so the cash was there.

But now it is here it really is worth the wait. I hope you have the same experience.

So do I, though I have never lost interest, I just wish it was here already! I do know it is almost done, some of the stuff I had requested was a little out of their norm, so it has caused some issues... of course part of the wait has been that dang brownie run that he had to do, but not much we can do about that.

Indeed!

This is the best I've been able to do......

Natural sunlight -- direct or diffused -- seems to work best for accurately capturing this color.
