Hi all,

I recently bought a wonderful 1960 Stratocaster Relic in Olympic White.
Serial# is R31530 and the Cerificate of Authenticy shows the date as 07/10/06
The hang tag also shows an additional number: 9270000451

The guitar plays and sound exceptionally well and the Rosewood fingerboard has a beautiful grain. I am now wondering if my guitar might have a Brazilian Rosewood fretboard.

I know that the Fender Custom Shop offers BRW fingerboard on some models.

Can someone here tell me more? I tried to send an E-Mail to Fender, but it looks like it went in the bit bucket.

Here is a pic but I am aware that you can NOT judge Braz. Rosewood from the visual appearance alone.

OK, I am now sure that 9270000451 is the model number but I can not find it at fender.com and I also don't have a 2006 catalog.

The model with the closest model number I can find is this:
http://www.fender.com/customshop/instru ... 9270000354

But my guitar ofcourse has the 7.25" fingerboard radius, not a "dark rosewood" board and it also came with a red tortoise pickguard.

What exact guitar model do I have?

Here a pic of the cert.

Hi,

I have the same guitar! Mine is #R31638. It has the tortoiseshell pickguard as well, the back plate is white though. I have also been asking Fender for the specs on my guitar but they were not able to tell me. They said it should be the same as the '60 Relic strat on the website. This does not tell me why the pickguard is different and why it has a 5 way pickup switching. I suspect the fretboard radius is around 9.5inch.

If you do find out, please let me know as our guitars should share the same specs.

Thanks
Ty

Hi, mine definitely has the vintage radius.

I put a "mint green" pickguard on it, looks much better. Fantastic guitar.
