With the recent releases of the tribute guitars (Blackie, and the Jeff Beck tele, and the EVH Frankenstein), I would love to see a new Hendrix tribute Strat added, and/or a Hendrix Strat permanently added to the artist line Fender has to offer.

I have heard in the past that Hendrix Experience Inc. is hard to work with, but it seems sac-religious not to have a Hendrix Strat perm member of the Product line.

Which Strat player would you guys like to see added to the artist line or have the custom shop create a tribute for?

I have a Monterey Pop, but darn...it about broke me. You are right, something affordable, custom, and Jimi. the closest thing to a JIMI tribute right now that Fender offers (thanks to John Mayer) is the Reverse Proto...I talked to my Fender rep...5k. Too much. great strat though.

I think there is a standard production model out now that can be had for much less money.http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Fender-60s-Reverse-Special-Strat?sku=512595&src=3WFRWXX

I forgot about this one. It was release last summer if I am not mistaken? MF had it on the front of one of their summer catalogs. I bet if Fender added the "Hendrix" name to the guitar and put it in their artist series like the Clapton sig, or Buddy Guy etc....The sales would jump on this thing (along with the price)

Did you see this auction?

http://cgi.liveauctions.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=52935&item=140120649132

How cool would it be to own that guitar? There was another one auctioned off not that long ago, a vintage Fender Mustang that Jimi used on 'axis bold as love' and 'electric ladyland.' That was his studio guitar, and the strats were his stage guitars.

As for other players I'd like to see recognized with a signature/tribute instrument: Pete Townshend with his Fishman-equipped Strat. He's been playing it for quite a few years now and has used Fenders on many occasions over the years. Don't know whether he's still legally bound to the Gibson brand.I suppose there'd be a legal aspect to consider.
