I have 2 Custom Shop Strats from 2004. A 1954 50th Anniversary Masterbuilt(Yuri Shishkov) and a 50th Anniversary Summer NAMM Aztec Gold '65 Relic. I have an article that came with the '65 saying that there were only 100 of each of the "Gold" models('56, '60 and '65) produced. Information on these models seems extremely hard to find. Does anyone know a good source to find out more about them? I am also curious as to how much appreciation, if any, has taken place over the years with these. I have only seen one picture of a '65 so far! Thanks!

I remember when these came out.
Most adds say 100 of each but maybe only Fender know
https://guitargiraffe.com/en/fender/96- ... ition.html
There is a 60 on the bay pretty much new for around $2250 so I would be talking depreciation on that one but the one in the add is advertised at a high price and has yet to sell, as for the 65 if you bought it new and paid MSRP and tried to sell it now you would maybe lose IMHO.
The resale market is a fickle one.
I would expect the masterbuilt to hold its value well but you should consider holding onto it forever. :D

I didn't buy either one new and got really good deals on both, so I wouldn't lose either way, but I'm really more curious on the '65 as there is such a scarcity of information on these models. The only one besides mine that I have seen was at Chris' Guitars. He wanted $2,795. for an NOS one and apparently got it! Really more interested if they are, in fact, that rare! Very cool guitar, regardless and having 2 CS Strats feels almost piggish! Thanks!

I think the anniversary was relic in Aztec Gold
Fender made the 65 in NOS, Closet Classic and relic in various colors as a part of their "time machine" series for a number of years and there have also been a number of ltd releases.
Standard Specs are 65 sc pickups, 65 c shape neck round lam RW fretboard vintage frets.
If you email fender your details to consumerrelations@fender.com they can provide you with specific details on your instrument. :D

No, these three models were made at the time of Summer NAMM, 2004. 100 of each, only in Aztec Gold, for the '56, 60 and '65 model years were built. This is not a Time Machine model. I think it is a good idea to contact Fender to find out more about this guitar, though. Thanks!

Yeah sure I am well aware of the 50th you discussed and gave you a link to the 60s version
I have seen them and as I originally said most place their run at 100 but you did mention a NOS 65 and the 50ths in gold were mild relic ... so ..is it possible the 65 NOS you mentioned could have been from the time machine series. :D

I see where the confusion came in here! When I said "NOS" I was referring to the fact that the '65 Relic I saw from Chris' Guitars was a "New" piece, having never been sold before, NOT the Closet Classic or NOS condition it was sold as! Does that make sense? Yeah, mine is lightly relic'd so you are right! Sorry about all these crazy terms and thanks again!
