Explanation is a few customers who already were familiar with the TBX requested from Fender to keep the circuit with the new pickup configuration, starting with the EC Standards in 2001 and the Teambuilt EC Customs in 2009.

Eric kindly agreed and the TBX was added on the Teambuilt EC Customs a few weeks before the first night at the Osaka-Jo Hall in February 12th.

Hell...He changed the pickups thanks to FMIC. Why not the rest of the circuit? I'd have gone with the new circuit and left it to the minority to swap out the tone pot for the TBX if they so desired. I don't know that the greater customer base would have known the difference. I recall that whole business we had with Ufboy's CS order. It took us a heap of digging to square away the problem, because the specs in the products section was incorrect. Had the company done as I suggested above, it never would have happened.

I certainly miss the late 80s early 90s tone with his Pete Cornish rig and the Soldanos. His sound was just big.

I saw that gear up close and personal at Bonham's Gallery in Manhattan in 2010. Looked like it was ready to fly. The powers cables alone must have been at least an inch thick.

I've got a new Mesa Boogie King Snake ready to ship. Do you seriously think I'm going to need to run my Clapton guitars through this, or would a Proco Rat do it for me?

Who'd have thought that 20 years later he could have all that in one little pedal

Right, but in that case EC should reform the lineup from that era. He already recruited Nathan East for the first leg of his farewell world tour.

Hiring the rest of the Journeyman lineup is a waste of time, especially since he decided to hang up his guitar after many long years of touring.

Of course I agree, running the old EC Grey through the SLOstortion and his signature Twinolux would sound very interesting.

The big problem are the pickups and the wiring.

Guys great stuff but I really expected the discussion to go into the direction of my question - how you set up your Clapton MBs with different amps, what tones you get etc.

Suppose we continue this discussion by first knowing what amp[s] and effects, if any, you are using.
