I recently purchased a guitar that I really wanted. The spec sheet says that it has 69 Abby hand wound pickups. I pulled the pick guard and I am a little confused. It's initialed, but looks very similar to her signature. I heard that she always signs the hand wounds. Now that being said, I have a pair of the CS 69's initialed by her and they are just block type letters. Nothing like this. I am waiting to hear back from the dealer I bought it from but thought I would check here. Thanks in advance!

To my knowledge signed "abby" is wound by herself, sign "AY" is wound by someone on her staff.

So I heard back from the Fender Custom Shop and these are Abby hand wound pickups. I guess she did initial some that she wound.

Interesting exception to the rule.
I did wonder about these. All the initialled 69 s I have seen are a variant of a printed AY and to be honest vary a little bit.
Those which are signed Abby and are presumably handwound by her have written instead of printed lettering.
The A and Y on your pickups look very much like the lettering on the her handwound ones i.e. they appear written and not printed. :D
