I just watched all of the Crossroads DVD and it appears as though he starts playing it on "Gin House" and continues with it for the rest of the show. It's very apparent that it is not EC Grey as he hands that guitar off and the one he adds is clearly a different color.

To me it looks exactly like the Hyde Park Strat without the Lace Sensors. It's not black, it's not Grey , it looks identical to Mercedes Blue. I don't think that guitar ever did go to auction did it? There may be speculation that this guitar is a new color , however, in my opinion it is Mercedes Blue. Anyone else actually watch the DVD and wonder the same thing?

I apologize, I didn't see the other posting below on this topic. I'm still convinced that it's Mercedes Blue. Despite claims of others , there is no chance this guitar is Black when you actually watch the DVD.

Eric stopped using Mercedes Blue Strats since late 1996.

I think it's probably a special custom paintjob commissioned by him to match one of his cars…. the rest of the story remains a mystery. :|

The guitar in question was made circa 2000 and served as a spare.

Definitely not Mercedes or Midnight Blue for sure. The original Hyde Park Strat was sold for an auction in 1999.

I think it's yellow.

Now I'll just have to fire up the bluray and surround sound just to double check... (any old excuse)

Clapton never played yellow Strats - unless you mean Olympic White. This finish was offered as a colour option in 1994.

His last official appearance with "Whitie" dates from January/February 1996; he made the switch to the Mercedes Blue a couple of months later.

Face meet palm.

For the benefit of Chromey only, I was just being silly.
