Hi,
I am at the point of ordering 2 masterbuilt guitars…1x Strat & 1 Tele.
I already read in this forum that some members had contact to their masterbuilders during the process of building. When i asked my dealer about that he told me that this is not a common thing!
Is he right or will i be given the chance to discuss some details with the builder?

It is not so important for the strat because it will be relatively usual but the Tele is goin' to be a pink Paisley with goldburst and there i exactly know what i want and i'd feel better if i could stay in contact with the builder… So please, any comments are welcome! :-)

It's part of the master built process I am sure.

You definitely get to speak with them once. Just do not expect repeated contact.

I would hope you would get to exchange more than one email with the builder...

Probably depends on the builder, but you definitely talk to them once on the phone to go over everything, after that, not necessarily.

Phone seems like a very bad way. It's prone to misunderstanding, forgetting and not easily being able to look up. On both sides.
For a several thousand dollar purchase, having all agreements in writing should be a given.

All of the "in writing" stuff is handled between you and whatever dealer you choose. As you do not and cannot contact Fender custom shop or the MB directly to order a guitar.

Talking with the MB over the phone is to go over all of that paperwork, make sure it is all you want, discuss any possible changes, or if the MB has any thoughts on it as well and basically just go over everything.
