Haven't bought a Strat in 10 years (almost). That one was a 50th Anniversary MB Kendrick '54 Strat. It was the only Strat I played for several years, until yesterday.

The '54 is a maple board/ash body number with vintage specs. I wanted to complement that guitar with a rosewood board/alder, also with pretty much vintage specs with the exception of a flatter radius board with the bigger frets.

Enter, the '60 CS Relic. I started shopping and saw this model with the painted headstock and knew that the one for me. I have had that painted headstock thing in the back of my mind for several years. They reek coolness. Mine is a 2012 model. Wildwood guitars had several in stock and as a team we selected the one that suited me the best. The guys at Wildwood have never let me down and they came up with a real nice one. Sonic Blue finish with that classic Strat early 60's throaty voice on all three pickups.

Brown truck came yesterday morning. It's been really cold up here between Colorado and Seattle so I let it sit in the case for the day. I got home last night and opened up the case and it was set up to play perfectly. Last night I did discover that the pup height was set a little too hot for my liking. This morning I lowered them a tad and found their sweet spot. Those pickups are awesome. Glassy, and they did retain that throatiness that I really like. Their output runs between 5.65 and 5.56. I like 'em a little on the underwound side. This is one sweet Strat. Super fine build. Flawless on the neck. Cool light relic job.

Anyway, I had to brag a little. Here is a short video of the guitar that I actually bought:

Congrats! Love the color with matching headstock. Pretty cool that you have a demo video of your actual guitar.

+1 on some photos.

Jerry

I am loving that guitar more than I can describe.

the paint and plastic colour combo with the headstock AND that beautifully deep red colour in the neck (most noticeable in the headstock photo) is perfection.

not many times something in this particular forum makes me post, but that is proper dream material.

except for you hahaha 8)

Thanks for your kind words. It is an awe inspiring guitar. It sounds and plays as great as those pictures make it look. I am lucky. Living the dream! :D

I was hoping that the red in the neck would show in the photo. On that particular day, with the sun shining so brightly and low on the horizon as you can only find this time of year, the color was just popping out of the rosewood on the neck.

Here's another picture for you.

Two more. I'm currently using the first picture as my screen saver.

It looks like it's spent some time in a UV chamber.

I love the baby blue color, and the extra work done on getting both the nut and bridge side of the fretboard looking so good.

The blue one is incredible. Wow.

Cheers

If Dylan had been playing that sunburst of yours, the I.D. would have been a no-brainer.

I'll have to think about that statement for a while to understand it's meaning. :?

In my best Robert Newton voice: "Eye, that's the money part of the guitar!"

Here's a hint. The celebrated guitar recently sold at auction for a princely sum was authenticated, in part, by comparing the grain patterns in the body wood and rosewood fingerboard with a very accurate photo of Dylan playing the guitar at historic Newport Folk Festival when he first went electric.

You know, I thought your comment might have had something to do with Dylan's Newport Strat. That grain in my ash bodied Strat is rather dramatic, isn't it? It would be pretty easy to identify mine by that alone. 8)
