Clapton seems to be playing a blue Strat on the new Crossroads video.
Mercedes Blue? Looks a bit lighter. A pic from the recent Switzlerland show
seems to show a Blackie.

I suspect that you can never tell what his tech is packing for a tour. I would say it would have much to do with the play list. There's also another matter of lighting as far as video, film and stills are concerned. The subtlties between the black, midnight, and mercedes blue finishes are very soft. Sometimes even the EC Gray looks Pewter.

We've made so much about the finishes of his guitars herein, over the years that sometimes I wonder if he's just having a good time busting the chops of those members in his audience for whom these details matter. The current hope around here, since the new Ferrari was built, seems to be that there'll be an LTD EPC red finish model made available so that both he and Fender can made a ton of money from them.

As for me, I've the two that matter for me, and that will serve.

Be patient, Chromeface should be along shortly.

The guitar in question is a masterbuilt blackie Todd had built for him in late 2008. It served as his main stage guitar during the North Ireland/British tours in 2009.

Clapton brought back this guitar in May 2012 after retiring the daphne blue strat from active service in November 2011.

Have any of you seen the new Crossroads DVD? On Gin House and other songs, he is playing a bluish Strat, yes?

No, it's the Blackie I was talking about in the post above. Clapton no longer plays the Hyde Park Strat.

This guitar was set up for a capo during the 50th Anniversary tour but since Eric uses it as his main stage axe the capo has been fitted on the grigio grey.

Yeah I've got that and have seen Gin House. Looks like the old EC Grey to me. Definitely not that black.

Elliot, if you do a freeze frame the EC Grey has a red dot on the back of the head stock.
At the beginning of Gin House he is handed another guitar....no red dot. Looks more blue than black. The song will appear on Youtube eventually.

These are different guitars, I believe. The lighting can play tricks though.

Hmmm....must be the lighting. I guess both guitars are the same grey.

No, certainly not.

Eric used a black strat with a matching-coloured crocodile skin strap on that song. The grigio grey is fitted with an orange leather strap from a daphne blue.

Not sure if those straps are made by Ernie Ball. :?

FIY… I've had noticed that Eric used a tweed Vibrochamp and the dumble overdrive special to drive his leslie cabinet.

No wireless, either.

Yeah I think they're both the same grey.

I do like the black one too that he used in Switzerland. Looks like mine

I don't think there're both the same grey. The guitar with the crocodile skin strap is definitely black.

Stage lights can play tricks, there's no doubt about that.

The orange leather strap was put on the grey shortly after the daphne blue was retired from active service.

Apparently Clapton had his own reasons to use a regular 100-feet cord in place of his Samson wireless pack on that stage and have two different amps (the dumble overdrive special and the tweed vibrochamp) to drive his Leslie cabinet....

Black? Are you serious? In "Got To Get Better..."? It's about as black as 7-up Green.

Do you think his guitar in this video is black? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VMd_rrWTxjE
