So since around 1995 I have always wanted a Fender Mustang *exactly* like Kurt Cobains. over many years and many mustangs and many monies I had tried and tried to get the modifications the same, but could never get it "just right" (im sure the custom shop guys know this attention to detail over and above playability)

up until the late 2000's there weren't too many up close and personal pictures of kurts mustangs to the level of a Clapton Blackie or a Lennon Casino. Nobody knew that on Kurts Mustangs the Humbuckers were drilled into the body or that the switches had been cut. Until the live and loud DVD no one really had the guitars in high res video either. We were lucky to get the Live and Loud Sonic Blue Mustang in the EMP museum.

I remember in the late nineties asking my local dealer about what do you think Fender USA Custom shop doing a Mustang, he said I am crazy, it would never happen even if I put up 10K for a master built, at that time and team built no dice.

I remember begging and begging Fender Japan ten years ago to do a "Sonic Blue Mustang like Kurts" and they just made me feel like I was being too crazy with detail, you have to remember in those days, there had never been a Fiesta Red mustang or a Mustang with a Humbucker in MIJ production.

So the happiest day in my guitar collecting and playing life was when Fender issued the Kurt Cobain Mustangs a couple of years ago. I rushed out and first bought a pair of lefties just to have the set, then later got the righties. and the best thing is because they have been mass produced, i'll always be able to get them in the future second hand. no limited runs, no 15K one off.

So this brings me to the video Fender just posted. to see the real guitars live and in person, to see them up close and dismantled, the Tunnel Sonic Blue Mustang & the NPA Fiesta Red Mustang (which has not been seen in public since late Feb 1994, it was the best present ever, seeing the details on those guitars, things I had never seen before, it was a great treat.

thank you so much for taking the time to research and produce these mustangs and then to go to the trouble of putting out the video, it was a great treat, thank you :) The way the Clapton people feel about blackie & brownie, is the way we feel about these mustangs!
