I just picked up a used Fender CS '65 Strat, which plays like a dream and sounds even better, but for some reason the previous owner designed it with beveled frets (6105 Narrow Jumbo). The problem I'm having is that the high "E" string and the low "E" string slip off the fingerboard if I'm not careful. The beveling is gradual so it's not all that drastic but it definitely can be annoying at times.

The more I play it the more I can control it so I imagine that as time goes by it will hopefully become less of a problem. However I can't help but wonder if this type of beveling is actually a preference for some guitar players or did somebody at the Custom Shop just accidentally shave too much off?

Besides a refret and starting over from scratch is there anything else I can to minimize this problem?

This may or may not help, but I've tilted the 1st and the 6th saddles inward on the double screw height adjusters to push them in slightly. By the sounds of it that may be all you need as you get used to the rounded edges.

A new precision cut nut spaced slightly in may be a more radical fix. Just some thoughts.
