Could the Custom Shop make a new Jeff Beck Strat to the 1991 specs including the FAT necK?

Actually his main stage guitar sports a fat baseball neck from a midnight purple '93.

The CS can make a JB Custom with the post-2001 specs, except you'll not get his signature on the headstock. Jeff stopped using Lace Sensors many years ago.

Why not finding an original JB on eBay rather than spending your bucks for an expensive CS guitar?

I don't want Jeff Beck's PERSONAL guitar, I want the Fender Jeff Beck Strat from 1991. Beck's guitars are very different from the signature models and I hardly play like Beck anyway. I just loved that big neck.

$1,800 for a beat up one. How much more would a CS be? And have a brand new warrantied guitar...which is a must for Fender's recent quality issues.

I have come across one issue in the several Fenders I have owned, it was a neck issue on an American Strat, had the warranty work done and it was determined that it couldn't be fixed. Because of Fender I had a new guitar in my hands in just a few days. 1 issue that was resolved in a timely manner with no push back on the customer.

Good Lookin out Fender

Thanks Joseph! :)

Didn't mean to hijack the thread (ok a little bit), but there ya go. I live in the world where problems are dealt with, so I think I have a decent idea of how many there are (and how they're dealt with uh'course). Defects are never fun or good, especially if you're the one getting them, but I'm pretty confident in saying that the percentage is surprisingly (very very)low...even to me. So....what the....says who? lol

Now....Jeff Beck with the club neck......obviously the Custom Shop can make pretty much anything someone wants but when a "Name" is involved, it becomes a bit more complicated. Never hurts to ask though, so I recommend hooking up with one of our Custom Shop Showcase dealers and seeing what is possible.
I remember when we first started the Jeff Becks and indeed, they did have the club compound radius necks as specified.......but they didn't last too long like that, as most folks don't like club necks.

Cheers,
rob

Jeff favors those clubby necks since a few years ago.

Trevor Wilkinson said recently his personal stage guitar is fitted with a fat bat neck from a midnight purple '93.

There were no pre-2001 JB Strats with compound radius fretboards. Jeff always specified his personal guitars having a 9.5'' radius as standard. Ditto for the post-2001 models too.

Fender didn't make compound radius fretboards until 2009/2010.

We've at least three threads running concurrently on this man, the latest of which posted a rig rundown from Premier Guitar during which absolutely nothing was asked or said about the neck on the #1 guitar with the Suhr pickups. In all of this, information is gleaned from a variety of sources, and nothing really conclusive. The latest tidbit, from a new book by a photographer who 'waited three hours' to be able to photograph it, stating that it's a '93 Custom Shop neck numbered '04', which was originally reserved for internal use at the Shop, but given to Beck for use on his guitar which has a '95 body.

Rob...maybe you can inquire of someone over there who knows, and solve this riddle once and for all.

It does have a compound radius, after his guitar tech did a refret..

Just a question: the fat '93 neck has also a compound radius fretboard? The specs sheet on both JB Standards and Customs says 9.5" radius!!! :x

If it's true, then Jeff's personal stage guitar is a totally different beast than the artist signature models Fender offers.

We've been talking apples and oranges here for awhile now. Your observation is not unusual with respect to the stage guitars and the Artist/Signature series instruments. The extensive cover story in the July issue of Vintage Guitar pretty much gave that the light. The one detail which might have closed the circle was overlooked during that Premier Guitar interview. How do you NOT discuss the design of the neck of such an instrument, particularly in the light of the comment made regarding the broad interest on the part of the public regarding the makeup of Beck's guitar. Ufff!!!
