How come there wasn't Abby pickups in your masterbuilt? Was there meant to be?

No I didn't order it, it was hanging in a shop so I bought it I wrongly presuming that a master built guitar would have hand wound pups. My mistake! The are initialed AY.

I suppose it would appropriate to differentiate between Abby Watched and Abby Wound now that they have both become part of Fender history.
Good to know that you've been made whole. At this rate, I'm hoping to be able to live long enough to see a picture of that guitar.

Great news on the pickup front then.
Rob you're "da man!" :D
I had the reverse experience.
Bought a new 20th anniversary custom shop opened the hood and it had Abby handwounds.
It could be a one off since it is vintage blonde with greenish pickguard and the spec sheet does not mention this color.

Rob is unbelievable, now that's customer service.

shaky, I am glad I was wrong about the fact that Abby's would be impossible to obtain at this point. it was a long shot but you took it and it paid off, plus now you get to say that your Strat is kind of an exception.

btw, a few years back, I too thought that all Masterbuilt guitars had handwound pickups ;)

I've been following this tread. I happy to hear that Rob found you the Abby hand wound pick-ups.

I too, am looking forward to pictures of this guitar when you receive it.

Rawk On

Thanks to you all - see you have to push sometimes!

When I first started building this guitar in my head probably four years ago, that's all it was an idea in my head. I have just done a search and found this in Taos Turquoise with a mint pick guard. I have asked for an AAA flamed maple neck though.

I got a bit bored with waiting so I started this project>

I'm gong to press on with this today! If you go through the thread you will see another nice blue

All's well that ends well. I was watching this thread to see what would happen, and had my fingers crossed for a good outcome. Just glad that shaky got his dream guitar!
