what can they do at this point? did you ask for a Custom 60's and two Fat 50's? because that's what inside my Fessler Strat that's still at the Shop, so maybe they can remove them and put them aside for your guitar ;)

:!: Sorry don't understand why I would want bits from your order. What does that have to with this post?

The option is what the Custom Shop typed in- not me and then sent the document to me.

just kidding ;)

I think you should relax a bit and send a PM to Rob Scwharz instead of Mike Eldred, he is usually very helpful, and being the head of Consumer Relations, your issue is his business more than Mike's.
he recently dealt with one of my requests in less than 24 hours.

you need to accept right now that you probably won't be getting Abby's though, since there are none left except maybe for very special customers and artists.
I am sure Josephina's pickups are just as good, and if they aren't, there are quite a few boutique pickup manufacturers out there that can make you an even better and vintage-accurate set than what the CS has to offer.

Best regards,

That is irrelevant. If you ordered a Monet, it doesn't matter whether a Van Gogh is as good or better - it's not a Monet.

Maybe the backlog on AY pups was much higher than the stock which might have been left when she retired...

That's true but I did mail them 10 months before Abby retired to get assurance that I would have AY pups on the build. They said that they would set my mind at rest!

Unless Abby gave 1 weeks notice that she was going to retire, I think there has been a monumental $@!& up!.

We might not ever learn if they had her wind a certain number of units for stock prior to her leaving, or whether these pickups were only wound on order. It certainly would have been a wise and sensible decision for them to have looked at their back orders in the pipeline and had her wind the pickups for all of those specifying Abby wound.

She did give short notice. I have a guitar on order from the same time you do and have run into the same situation. They do not have any extras at all. It is what it is unfortunately.

Not quite sure how to word this especially given echoes71s post but here goes:
Thanks for all your support and Doc for putting me on to Rob. He is one of the World's people doesn't automatically give a blanket NO without at least trying... and then trying again! Through leaving no bench untuned, he has found the last set on the planet of Abby hand wound (reverse wound middle pup) and had them put aside for my build.

That's how great things are done, the ability to say well let's just see shall we.

The reason that I have pushed all the way is because amongst my collection, the guitar that get's played the most is my master built (Dennis Galguska) with AY pups. The sound is just to my liking. Imagine my surprise when I lifted the pick guard to see that they aren't hand wound pups... on a Masterbuilt. So that is why I made my order. This new guitar will be a collectors piece as well as a player. Taos Turquoise with a mint 3 ply pick guard. Bring it on! Better get saving the rest of the cash.

Many thanks Rob.

No I didn't order it, it was hanging in a shop so I bought it I wrongly presuming that a master built guitar would have hand wound pups. My mistake! The are initialed AY.
