Yes the mystery continues but check out this old ebay listing
Apologies for linking but I think it is ok since the listing is not current. Shame there are not further pics.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2006-FENDER-C ... 7675.l2557

Looks pretty similar and the seller stated it came with cert and implies it is a 60s relic so it is starting to look like that.
I now suspect it is too old to be one of those Wildwood 61 strats.
Nice figuring on the board but no original case and cert is a bummer. :D

Agreed. Would there be any way to obtain a replacement COA from Fender, or is it lost
To time. I still wonder about the initials under the pick guard. luckily I had a white tolex hard shell case it now calls home.

I believe you will not be able to get a replacement cert.
The original time machine 60s case is brown tolex.
Enjoy your strat! :D

If you want a case with that vintage vibe, G&G Cases will build one for you.

You haven't indicated that you inquired of Wildwood with that serial number and photo. If you can document that indeed it was purchased by Wildwood and eventually sold by them you could inquire of the Custom Shop about a replacement COA. However, to the best of my knowledge and belief, they will likely NOT predate it to the original date of issue.

Yep I agree with ZZDoc it would be worthwhile contacting them for info but since you are not the original purchaser I doubt anyone will front with a cert.
I think the body is alder and to me it appears the neck is not quartersawn although there is some cross grain.
2006 is a long time ago ..... in a galaxy far far away....

I have a white C&G for it.2006 may be far away but I didn't pay
Anywhere close to 4k for a greenwood. I guess the cost is some of it will remain a mystery, but It's a great strat and I have to say I'm impressed with how close it is to some of the originals I've played. According to the seller it was used in studio by a producer/ player in the Denver area I forget the name off hand ( tim jackson? )but he bought it off him through an ad and so it goes. Maybe I should contact wildwood but would they even be able to track a series number that old?

Ok...I've been doing a little research and trying to figure out the mystery of the initialed pickguard. I'm going to throw this grenade out there. I now believe those to be the initials of the late John English and at the risk of much flaming here is a pick of a JE initialed guard that Ed Mathews is selling http://www.eddievegas.com/store/details ... _-MORE.php. I'm putting this in as a reference only and invite you all to look at each pickguard. Also a search brought up rumblings on this sight of a master built and team built run he did in 06. I'm also thinking that this fretboard may actually be BR. Grenade thrown. Now I brace for impact.
