Well looks like we are in the real home stretch now, 2-3 weeks...

This has been the longest 2 years and 9 months of my life lol.... well ok, maybe not, but wow, it's been long.

Congrats, can't wait to see pictures, details, etc.

I couldn't do it personally, hats off to you. I'm a relic guy and would hunt down the right MB Cruz relic with large C RW neck from dealer stock.

Again, congrats and your horse is in the stretch run.

...Prior to join Fender he opened his own guitar shop in the early 1980s and built the first SLANT 6-string bass for Roscoe Beck...

I feel your pain... I waited almost 2 years for my STEVENS Slant 4
and yours, like mine, will be WORTH THE WAIT!

Hang in...

If I could have gotten it off the shelf I certainly would have, but then again, that is the whole point of having it built. Your exact looks & specs, no compromise.

Can't wait, and thanks.

Nice echoes of the Fender Katana guitar body in that design. Perhaps the Katana would have benefited from that headstock shape in its own right.

Do you mean the Performer Fender bass (above)?

Yeah, kinda sorta I guess.

I can claim ownership of (2) FCS basses, insofar as Michael Stevens was the OG of the FCS.
His work is beyond awesome, AS IS the current output from the builders in Corona.

My 2013 Precision Pro has the woods, the build, and the tone.

To the OP- Everyday is one day closer! Just wait until you get to open the box, and then...
OPEN the CASE!!!
Bliss. Almost equal to doin' the deed!

Nobody mentioned the existence of the USA Performer Elites until now.

The USA Performer Elite Bass was identical to the Japanese Performer Standard except the body was backrouted (no pickguard), the fretboard was made from ebony and for the addition of a third pickup with a 5-way rotary pickup selector.

The Performer Elite lasted only a year while the Standard remained into production until 1986/87.

I'll reiterate that the headstock on that Stevens bass would work a helluva lot better on a resurrection of the Performer Series guitar, than that spear/arrow headstock Fender designed. What say you FMIC or Stevens, for that matter.

Recently Mike did a matching Slant guitar fitted with three Seymour Duncan humbuckers: two JB Juniors in the neck & middle and a Lil' Screamin Demon in the bridge.

In a design twist the neck and bridge pickups were reverse angled.

(guitar is not mine).

I once dated a woman who told me practically the same thing, though worded a tad differently. Hope your guitar turns up better than she did.
