If you still fancy the white rubbery sole thing you might want to check out Red Wing as well. Slightly more afforbable than Visvims and endorsed by EC in the past.

Got three pairs of EC Redwings which I bought in 2001 when he/they released them - great boots!

I should have known you were already on to that.... can't believe that the release of those shoes was 2001... must be getting old! :(

I'm getting tempted to swap out all the electronics in this new TB for the bits in my original black '95 MB. That one has a fairly new pickguard & pups as the originals faded to yellow, which I didn't like the look of.
Not sure if I'm liking the VN as much as the LS. It seems to me like the guitars fitted with LS have more Ooooomph than the VN version.
Tempty tempty tempty.........

Hmm, can't decide which of the pups have my personal preference. Initially I liked the VN's, then I decided I didn't like them and went back to Lace Sensors. Recently however I've made the switch back to the VN's.

Remember, you are used to those old Lace pups, which are extremely loud (at least combined with the active circuit) and glassy sounding. Anything else may sound a bit humble and dull. Give your ears some time to adjust to the new sound. You may need to tweak the controls of your amp a bit.

Generally I like the sound of the Laces with overdrive. Clean they are a bit too cold for my ear. The VN's sound nice clean, but sound a bit muddy with distortion... to my ears at least...

On the yellowing Lace pups; you changed the entire pickup or just the covers? A long time ago I was told covers of Lace Sensors couldn't be switched as they were glued onto the pup... if covers can be changed I'd like to know...

New pups and pickguard. I have no idea if the covers can be changed.

Years ago I kept the guitar on a stand and it often got exposed to direct sunlight. It's white bits developed a tan.

It's the wrong sort of natural relicing for me. I'm very fussy

Quick update -

It's a lot better at the moment! Hardly any crackle at all (just a very small amount when touching the metal components, none of the neck crackle). We're experiencing our one week of summer in the UK (27c, humid) at the moment.

Thanks all.

Good to hear things are improving in that area.

Take care and hang on in there...
