The great mystery and one of the most difficult and discussed issues on the Forums. There are now more detailed guidelines and diagrams in The Custom Shop website in the section on designing your own guitar. Quite honestly...in terms of what's currently market...your gonna have to do some reading and auditioning of guitars to get a sense of what's out there so far as production line models. The most common...the 'modern C' can be found on an AmStd Strat. The V-neck, on an AmDlx, the Clapton neck carve, speaks for itself. Tele's often have a U-shaped neck. Then there are the individualized artist series guitars like the SRV, for instance. Seek and you shall find. Presently, if you want to have shot at sampling a broad range of neck shapes you'll have to make a pilgrimage to the Fender Visitor's Center in Corona CA.
