After long hours of thinking I finally decided to stay in the community.

The reason was my presence here is so helpful and precious and it's a stupid idea to reject criticisms so fast.

Feel free to tell Brad to not erase my profile.

You know that I've been critical of the lack of tact on the part of some during their participation in these posts. Where Mike Eldred is concerned,I cut him quite a bit of slack. He's got a great deal on his plate and often has to try to make a point in as few words as possible, which may often appear as being short. He's not that kind of guy. He's a rather generous individual, in fact. Because of this and his work at Fender, I have to lean towards Mike's information base and the credibiltiy of it. Because he has rebutted you on many occasions, it gives me cause for concern about the sources that you access in bring 'facts' to us simply because if these sources are not accurate it may mean that not only you, but the rest of us, for that matter, cannot rely on the credibility of what we see, hear, or read, in the music media.

welcome back :)

obviously, this being an open forum, anyone can say whatever they like in whatever way they like within general reason.

I would only humbly suggest that you might enjoy your time even more here by:

- staying relatively close to the topics being discussed, at hand

- and that you ensure that facts you are posting are indeed 'facts' (and have the appropriate authoritative source association that one would expect).

- if you are sharing your hopes, thoughts, dreams, etc. those are all great but should be delineated from 'facts'

- AND, sometimes, take it easy on the heavy pictures !:) i love eric as much as anyone but sometimes the extent of fairly unrelated pics being posted can make a thread tough to get through.

i DID like your idea of a new Clapton Signature with the new ferrari red color...the current color is a little too 80's for me!

Ufboy, you still have that MBTK with the maple neck too? I guess it was a '57 reissue, aged but not sure I whether it was relic or heavy relic. I vividly remember the pics you once posted here on this forum and I really liked how it looked. Which aging type did you specify for Todd on that order?

There's still time to order that Clapton, just take it easy and pull the trigger when you feel fit.

i DO still have that one:)

your questions about its 'classification' are interesting - and why i think the guitar is so 'specific' to me.

the two main discussion points that todd and I had were around the neck profile and the extent of relicing.

Neck:
I dont know why but i really felt like the neck i wanted wasnt quite exactly the 'old' blackie tribute profile OR the current TK built Clapton Sig neck. The former was slightly too slight (the 'v' wasnt sharp or constant enough) and a little too thick and the latter was closer but still a little different. This gut feeling that i wanted something different was confirmed in my mind after some lengthy discussions with todd (sorry for taking up so much time todd:)). the result is a neck that has an even slightly sharper and more constant down the neck 'v' than the Clapton sig. still is an overall thinnish feeling neck and has little shoulder - like the current Clapton...of course, since it is a little harder 'v' it has a feel of even less shoulder. And, it is vintage 7.25 radius as opposed to the current Clapton spec.

Relic:
i 'think', at the time, the relic designations were NOS, Closet Classic, Relic. I wanted something more than closet classic and less than the extent of relic that was on the Blackie tribute. Again, after a lot of discussion with todd he talked me into some things, out of some things, took my idea for one thing, and the resulting guitar nailed what i kind of had a subconcious idea of in my mind but couldnt full articulate. it had neckwear but it wasnt worn out as Blackie. it had exposed wood on critical points of the body but didnt look completely beat. And TK, on his own, gave me one or two Blackie recgonizable spots of wear that i think are really cool because they hint at the inspiration without trying to copy it.

the Abby HW pickups completed the package. Its sort of a strange guitar in my collection in that it is not a signature guitar or an 'established' spec, if you will. its also weird in that i have other guitars that sort of wow me the minute i pick them up or look at them. this one sometimes doesnt do that but after playing it for a couple minutes i ALWAYS end up wondering why is it again i just dont play this one all the time?

Great that you've still got that one too! Remembering the pictures, I can kind of imagine what you describe on the wow factor regarding the looks; it's not a very 'flashy' guitar but something of a more sober and subtle nature, always found it had a 'connoisseur relic' job, which is exactly what makes it so appealing to me. It's the sort of relicing you'll only see on a masterbuilt, present yet subtly executed.

Well I'm glad Chromeface- I think this forum wouldn't be the same without you, and I enjoy the contributions you give. By no means you are not a troll.

I guess if there were concerns about your actions on the forum, the moderators would have notified you by now. Ultimately we all choose what we get annoyed over and I prefer to not take this too seriously, instead I enjoy it for what it is as the forums connect me to people who share my hobbies. That brings me a lot of joy & happiness.

Don't ever leave mate :)

I still have concerns about the veracity of his sources. I do not believe that he passes on information which he 'thinks' is true. I believe he sources information the veracity of which he trusts. If these are proven not to be so, then we all must take with a certain amount of reservationk everything we read about this industry which sparks our interesting. That is most disconcerting to me. :?
