Maybe on the sig he is doing the same on his own...

How did the Custom Shop set up the trem claw on your Blackie replica. The replica I saw at the Bonham's auction preview was not set up the same as the original Blackie pictured on the back of the Christies Auction book and the Brownie photo in Wheeler's book..i.e. trem claw and bridge block set flush to the body with five springs in place. The only logic I can see for adding a wood block in the space behind the bridge block is to enhance the guitar body's vibration dynamics as a hardtail.

Yo guys....I just read a piece in the mag 'Guitar Aficionado' about the 'Brownie' replica and it contained a detail never mentioned in all the other description of specs. The article stated that it had a 'stopped' vibrato block. Is there a piece of wood in the trem cavity or perhaps the trem claw set against the body?

Just the trem claw set flush to the body, no additional woodblock inserted. There are good pictures of this guitar in Tom Wheelers 2004 book on the Stratocaster.

Doc is talking about the replica

Ah... yes, you're right. Then again, the replica being a replica, I still think the remark is valid.

People make mistakes. There's no need to be so rude (with your 'roll eyes').

Just a little question (hence's a good occasion to ask this after that famed pickup granny's retirement).

The custom-shielded '50s singles on both guitars were Abby-wound?

So I just got an email and FedEx tracking number from Fender that my Brownie DVD is on it's way. So I guess there is a DVD. I was starting to wonder and searched these boards.

Did anyone of you experience a problem trying to register your Brownie ?

I'm stuck trying to use the special register site; I've been in touch with Consumer Relations, but they were not able to fix the problem yet.

:(

Good old Fender. Never a dull moment. Just like a recalcitrant child. You have to love 'em.
