So much for quickies. I guess I'll have to get into it a bit deeper.

Eric used several Strats for slide over the years, including an Ice Blue copy made by Roger Giffin.

I guess you're talking about this guitar:

Brownie was occasionally played by Yvonne Elliman

which video - the rolling hotel one?

yes, that is definitely not brownie - but that footage is years after concert for bangladesh. the sunburst used in the latter definitely does not have large headstock.

Also, it appears to me that the case with which eric traveled with the guitar is not the original, as it was a case that looks from the late 60's as opposed to the 56 case, which should have been a tweed right?

Not the guitar seen on stage in the Bangladesh Leon Russell clip on U-Tube.

During the Bangladesh charity bash Eric was mostly seen with long hair and a moustache-playing a Gibson Byrdland.

Well, here's a photo of him with Brownie!

I stand corrected... about Bangladesh anyway, not about the Rolling Hotel... so now it's settled... thanks guys... the guitar did appear on some rather significant venues and records then...

i know what the f*** im talkin' 'bout :)

no worries...you know, on the DVD thing, i just looked again and on Fender's Brownie page, there is no mention of a DVD - i bet there is not going to be one.

I would bet at one time, there was going to be - and i would double down that the DVD would have essentially been the interviews that were posted on Youtube. with their posting, though, maybe they figured DVD was not needed.

just back from Crossroads at MSG - no Brownie sighting :(

He did play thru the Dumble all night, however - absolutely incredible tone...his playing really fits well with that type of tone

I think he'll bring Brownie for a couple of songs at a later time (possibly during the upcoming RAH shows), so don't despair to see the guitar so far.

It appears that he prefers the tone he gets from the Dumble over the '57 Twins.

Not really the typical SLO kind of sound but a cross between the two.

I expect some early 1990's stuff to make everyone happy :P

So everyone seems to be happy with their guitars, thus far. From the discussion, there were only two purchases on the part of Forum members. As for touring with it, perhaps a replica. Don't know that EMP would have the original going out again on that kind of gig. When you look at the Fender video, the way it was packaged and handled should tell that tale.

I attended both nights of the Crossroads shows this past weekend. Needless to say I'm stay on cloud nine. I was fortunate enough to have floor seats in row 8 on Friday and row 6 Saturday. I notice something a bit interesting in Claptons strat both nights. The neck plate on his guitar looked to be thicker than an ordinary strat neck plate. Thick enough to actually notice and also to be able to compare it to the numerous other strat the were being played over the course of nearly 10 hours.
And technically Brownie was in attendance, as was Blackie and the famous Gibson. There was a Clapton exhibition set up and all 3 originals were in glass cases available for viewing and drooling purposes.
