So, they are about to ship! To all you guys that will be getting one: Congrats!

M. , if I recall correctly, you also have one of the Blackie Tributes. Would love a back to back comparison between these guitars!

+1 on the comparison, as im tempted by trying to get a Krause Blackie also.

and thanks bobby!

Whoo, that's not going to be an easy task I'm afraid... assuming each of the 8 builders active at the time made an equal portion of the 275 Blackies, means there are only 34 or so TK built Blackies around.... I hope you'll find one with proper placement of the waterslide decal. Always found it strange that they went to such extremes in replicating the guitar, while missing out on the odd decal placement of the original. TK did get it right on the proto, but not on all others.

i know - im going to have to be (and have been) really patient....ive been tempted by the occasional cruz or kendrick but there always happened to be something about the particular examples that i didnt like.

at one point, i was ok in getting a kendrick (because at least he built for eric at some point and i liked that connection in my Blackie builder) but, for whatever reason, a lot of his neck wear looked really light and not very authentic.

even though they supposedly made approx. equal numbers, i sure see a lot less of the TK built ones available - for whatever random reason. ive seen more kendricks than anyone - or the same 1-2 kendricks are getting passed around like a cheap bottle of wine.

with the TK Brownie id like a TK Blackie even more...if i can justify it! :)

Guys, Blackie is in my home town right now, well tugged in... so I can't really compare it to Brownie, also the ear test will have to wait till I get myself a good sounding amp here in Chicago... don't worry, already on it. However, it's a tough comparison as I have played and recorded with Blackie and it is by far one of the greatest strats I've ever played... I've got a demo where I play with here some chords and arpegios and she's just amazing...
The good news is... Brownie's home... gonna let her set in for while before taking her out for some pics...
UffBoy, when you get your Brownie, please let me now if it came with a DVD of Clapton being interviewed on Brownie...
Thanks guys!

Ok so a little scoop... you have to Register your Brownie's serial number at special website, so FCS can mail you all of your additional candy...

It's safer than letting GC do it, much safer

I agree Alain... One thing I'm certain is the DVD doesn't come with the guitar it appears to be part of the candy package you get when you register the guitar.

Wow!! Much going down since I last looked in here. I expected the website to keep me following the discussion, but no. M's got his Brownie, and UB's a serious case of GAS...now talking about scoping out a TK Blackie Tribute. See what happens to ya'll the minute I turn my back :!: In the matter of the Gibby, unless you need to add an LP to your arsenal, you might want to weigh the costs, thinking on the Blackie....except if cost is no object at this point, then I'd go for it. Waiting on you all. Enjoy.

Ok, so I've got this Thin Skin 54 Strat in my apartment which I only keep for sentimental reasons and I have never been able to play comfortably... but it sounds really sweet for single lining balad style licks and have used it in the studio for such purposes, so... I open the Brownie case and inspected it... my God the detail of this guitar is amazing, the worn on the neck, the feel of the neck, the sunburst finish, the little crack on the pickguard and line scratch on the 5th fret of the neck... the placement of the fender decals... WOW!

I only played like for 60 seconds a few blues runs and licks and it was like... I found saying to myself, there it IS... I don't suck at playing it's just that this guitar fits perfectly, and as EC says "it has been made for playing and it gave me all of the assistance I needed". I tuned her up and the set up and octavation are dead on accurate good job TK... I don't wanna read to much into it but it was bit scary how well my hand could run through the neck... It was like an old friend coming home... All I can say is... when I went back to playing the 54... I was like... what's wrong I can't do the runs I was doing on Brownie with this guitar... it feels stiff... So now I don't know what to do about the 54... But as Jeff Beck says "there are just necks that once you pick them up it feels like you were born with them"

So, those are my first impressions of Brownie... and from my chair... THAT'S A LOT, typically when you get a new guitar you have to have at least a few weeks or months to get properly acquainted with her... As I said before, it's scary how well we fitted, it's like we've been playing together for years... All right... enough with the sugarcoating, but it's true...

M.

He was clear, in his video comments, that he chose the guitar for its maple neck, and the fact that it had been well-played which, by the way, that mongrel Blackie, likely had been, front the parts he chose to create it. Happy to hear how pleased you are with your investment. I have no doubt the other guys will be, as well. UB is definitely a TK devotee in these matters.
