Well, that's $ 15k for the Lester, $15k for Brownie, $6k for the 28 madagascar, $13k for the 45 madagascar and $50k for the 45 brazilian. Totals only $99k. You sir, need to be put under guardianship.

I think I'll stick to the Ernie Ball Crossroads Guitar Strap.

youre assuming only 'one' of each??

Oh, maybe I'll go berserk and take two straps. How many of the 45 brazilians are you planning to take? They're a steal at this price.

Yeah, struck me as very comical too!

I guess we was referring to the whole lot, not just the FCS "Brownie".

In matter of this Les Paul, I have no doubt that you all realize that "Lucy'' was the name Albert King tagged is Flying V with.

Much is made of what's is natural in the hands of a player and his tone. It's clear here, what I have observed in the past, how Clapton uses the third finger of his left hand to fret notes which most players will use the fourth four. The anatomy of his hand shows that third finger to be much longer than its fellows which gives him an advantage above the 12th fret and allows him to explore that part of the neck, as he often does, yielding those high, singing sustaining notes, not to mention the unique way he generates a vibrato using his entire forearm, rather than just his wrist.

When playing solo's, he virtually never uses his little finger. Always stays in that triangular position with his first, second and third finger. Very restrictive, yet he's so creative within that format. What also helps is his strenght; everything is played with absolute confidence and he virtually never braces bends, not even the unusually high ones.

I know this is Fender... and it's the Brownie thread... but I'd love one of those 000-45. Have wanted a 000-42 for a long time. Lovely guitars!

Wow Lefty...first time in my memory of these Forums that anyone ever referred to an instrument by it's catalog number. Please translate.

BTW: Are any of your Claptons wired w/o the TBX and, if so, can you comment on tonal differences? Xhefri touts the advantage of that pot but Eric did away with it. Question is 'why?'.

Yeah, the TK White is non-TBX. To be honest all four* sound different and I ain't no good wiv words 'n' stuff so it would probably be easier if you just pop round and have a listen. I'll stick a few beers in the cooler...

* LS/TBX, LS/TBX, LS/NoTBX, VN/TBX

Someday I intend to find myself on your side of the pond and in your territory. Hopefully we can gather all the Brits together for a pint. This year it most likely will be Alain.

On topic, it's one of the LS's which lacks the TBX. That wouldn't help the question for a guitar with VN's but would still hold for a comparison between two LS's. Perhaps you've got someone over there, without a 'tin ear', who might offer an opinion.

Hi Doc,

Maybe I'm missing the point here, but if you want to compare a TBX loaded Clapton to one without the TBX, simply take a TBX loaded guitar and set that tone control on 5. That's all the treble you'll get of a guitar without the TBX. Remember that the only thing a TBX does from 5 up to 10 is a gradual bypass of the tone pot, giving a marginal treble increase. From 0 to 5 a TBX does exactly the same as a standard tone control does from 0 to 10.

I can only speculate why Clapton does not have the TBX in his personal guitars, but he probably decided that he does not need the extra high end response, thus favoring a standard tone control which is a little easier to fine tune.

I know it sounds reasonable from an electronics concept however, from the point of experimental design, one ought not to use the device in question as its own control in this case. It would best be compared to the same type of guitar with a conventional tone circuit. At best, even those two guitars are not exactly alike, as Lefty has spoken to.
