Hi all , Im confused and a bit frustrated ! I do have a couple of nice custom shop strats, but I also have a nice 1989,strat plus. My dilemma is , which I know is a personal choice, but would still like to get an opinion on , Im thinking on changing the strat plus to buy the fender select strat !. Both are beautiful ! But the select looks stunning. Has anyone tried both ?. Im interested on anyones opinion !. Thanks, John.

The "Select series" are really nice, but unless the Strat Plus isn't working for you anymore, I'd keep it.

Keep the Strat Plus and buy the Select.

I owned an '87 Strat Plus and follishly sold it. I really regret it.

Unless you don't really care about the Strat Plus, I'd hold on to it. You will miss it.

Thanks guys !!! The strat plus is fantastic. all original pick ups etc, but having a passion for fender strats, like yourselves, these select strats look stunning, and they look like a must have!!!! but I will keep the plus, I would miss it, so I will keep it. Hopefully this time of year a bargain might pop up and maybe be able to get a deal. Have a great and peaceful time.

Keep the Plus, it's getting harder and harder to find a really nice one - I've been looking for a backup for mine for a while now.

Those selects are indeed rather delicious though.

I'm not in love with Tele's and swapped out a gorgeous natural finished TelePlus years ago for a Clapton Strat. Now really sorry I did that. Bear in mind that your guitar is now entering the 'vintage' stage. Keep it.

What year and color Clapton Strat?

Also did your Tele Plus have a duel Red Lace Sensor?

Hi guys, would love to hear why you think the strat plus is so special ! I know it feels a pure workhorse, it feels heavy, good quality rosewood, the gold lace pick ups do chime, and Im using the new Rev Willies guitar strings from dunlop, endorsed by the unique Billiy Gibbons of ZZ top. So Id love to hear your take on the strat plus. Regards, John. Bye the way, you should give the Rev Willie strings a try ! I think they rock.

Since you ask...

^^ This, basically! ^^

Mine isn't the best Strat I own, but it's by far the most reliable, stays in tune, sounds the same night after night and I'd be lost without it. I know I can shove it in the back of the car, drive to a session, pull it out and it'll do the job. If it falls off a stand or gets dropped by a careless idiot (usually me!), it'll bounce right back and normally still be in tune.

The Plus is one of the best working guitars you can (or rather, could!) buy, in my opinion. Mine did lose the Lace Sensors and Fender trem a while ago though.

I went through a phase, where I tried collecting all the custom colors of the Strat plus model (and the many variations!), as these were top of the line in '90s. I did keep a Strat "Ultra" & a Tele "Plus Deluxe". I wish I still had a "plus" because they were rock solid, and the Lace Sensor pickups had a really distinct & unique tone capabilities.

But then of course, I discovered the Fender Custom Shop....

My strat plus is a 1989,when do guitars become vintage ?. Wouldnt it be nice if they were re issued ?.Many fender strat lovers seem to wish they had kept them, or never want to part with them. :?

Over on TDPRI, the discussions usually resolve to about 30 years old.

And alainlafrance, it's really not that bad :)
