Hey guys/girls - I just bought a '51 Nocaster NOS. I prefer the Closet Classic finish but got a great deal on the NOS. I am totally cool with letting it age gracefully but want to help it along a little. I definitely don't want to do anything drastic like sand, refinish, stick parts in acid, etc. I guess what I'm looking for is some simple ways to dull the overall look a bit and maybe darken the neck a little. I assume not wiping the guitar down after playing would help as well as not applying polish. I also assume that it's probably better to leave it out as opposed to keeping it in the case. Any other thoughts or suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Play it alot, I have a strat pro closet classic and I play it everyday then hang it up. The finish on the back is getting worn as is the top of the contoured body. The color was white but now from use is turning that awesome deep cream color. The neck has a worn spot around the third and fourth fret from my wedding ring. She is aging gracefully in my hands. :)

Hello Badleaper,

Just keep it outside.
That'll do it.

Cheers.

I am not a fan of artificially aging anything. Let it do it's thing naturally, over time.
