Bricks? - NO WAY:-)

Good luck to you, too.

About this "Artist" model business -

I LOVE Fender products. Their guitars are no-frills working-man's tools that won't send you into orbit over a scratch and they don't have binding that comes off when sweat gets behind it.

Having said that, it seems to me that Fender has become all about squeezing as much money out of two boards screwed together as they can. I just acquired two Squiers for stage use - a '51 and a Stratocaster. They've become my main instruments. I've got mine, so I'll say what I think needs to be said. Squiers are the only instruments Fender produces that are priced appropriately for what they are. When I visit a music store, I can't tell the difference between a Fender and a Squier until my eyes travel up the guitar to the headstock. When I play my Squier standard series Strat, I fail to see where they hid another $600 worth of value in the Fender American Series counterpart. The Custom Shop(Cruz) is now copying '51's - w/ an inferior 3-saddle Tele bridge/pickup setup instead of the Strat bridge/humbucker configuration. They have the brass to ask $4550. I'd rather buy a dozen or so of the originals and spend the money tricking them out.

That '68 Esquire w/ the 3-saddle bridge was a $150 guitar when I sold it in the mid-70's. Some idiot might pay $3000 for it now, but it's STILL a $150 guitar.

The guitar doesn't come with a P.A.F. pickup, If it did it might be worth a bit more than 5g's. Eddies original had one. :D :D
To be honest I've seen some pretty descent EVH do it yourself guitars.
Relic'ed , beaten, bruised, and far below $25,000.

I've had a neck-position PAF in one of my guitars for about 20yrs.

I figure it to be meant for neck-position according location of the shielded cloth-insulated lead. Its double black bobbins are smooth and it was originally under a beat-up gold cover.

Make me an offer.

I bought it out of a guy's spare parts bin as merely a used Gibson humbucker. It was paired w/ a newer bridge-position T-top under a pristeen gold cover. Part of the deal was that I return that cover:-)

I replaced the T-top w/ a DiMarzio PAF quite some time ago.

As far as Custom Shop guitars go -

Before I became adept enough to not require the services of a luthier for most jobs, I had Tom Dobrovich of upstate New York tend to my guitar repairs. If any Strat repro is worth that kind of money, it would be one of that gentleman's creations w/ a set or thru-body neck, exotic wood and choice of traditional or 3/side headstock.

BTW - What does an air-guitarist take as a 1st-place contest prize?

- A clear lucite guitar!(no kidding-saw it on the news)

His original was actually a boogie body bought from Charvel. What I am surprised about is that on most of the clips I have seen on You Tube of the current tour he is playing the Music Man's or maybe the Peavey's that he had endorsements with. You would think he would really pimp the frankenstein out so people would maybe consider buying such an overpriced guitar. Don't get me wrong, I think it is extremely cool guitar but not 25k cool.
