Hi!
This is my first post here. I love Fenders!
I have a Fender CS Relic Jaguar.
The neck is stamped July 2001, but the certificate of authenticity is signed September 2002.

What happen inbetween these dates?

alex.

i'm guessing the neck was made in 2001, and the entire guitar wasn't completed until 2002.

That was my guess too..
I don't know the routine at the CS. Do they make, say, 15 Jaguar necks at a time an then they lay around waiting to be used for 2 years?
This Jaguar is a #2 of 2 on order and it certainly did't take a year to build it :D

BTW it's a great guitar!

Anyones else here with CS Jags?

alex.

i believe that, unless its a custom neck shape, they make a bunch of necks at one time, and then use them as the orders come. Like, say your neck is just a rosewood, 21 fret, neck. they'd probably have them on hand, because they are a common neck. but, if its a custom one, then they have to build it for your guitar, because it isn't a common order.

thats just a guess, i don't know for sure what happens in there. but any film I have seen from the custom shop, their workshops are filled with lots of necks and parts, already produced.

i have a CS strat. I have never been a fan of the Jags. I like the Jazzmasters, but not Jags.

Too much of this nonsense....like the player with the TBX in his CS Clapton. Wonder if those folks out west are on the beam?
Suggest you contact consumerrelations@fender.com, give them the details including all registration numbers and ask for an explanation. Then you can give us the heads up. Just hope they keep their build sheets indefinitely.

If you were not to make the deal , I was just waiting in the woods..
But I think you better deserve it as it seems to be your dream guitar and for me just one among others ...in a way.

Regarding the difference of dates , ZZ Doc might be right.
Otherwise, when you ask for another COA to replace a lost one (with all the relevant doc required by the CS), the replacing COA will have a new issuing date, not the one of the original one.

I somehow knew it was you when he told me it was a french guy :D
I have seen you over at TDPRI.
The world of guitar-nerds isn't that big 8)
You have a really impressive collection!
But you are on my list, if I ever want to sell the Jag...

Do you know if CS Jags are rare?
Since you don't have any, I mean...

Maybe I'll come visit you in France sometime!

Hi Alain!

The COA dating you describe should be of no consequence providing that it states to the effect that it is a replacement for the original AND it corroborates the ACTUAL build date of the instrument. Fender ought to be able to do that if they have the original records to support the document and it certainly would be valuable if they could provide copies of same.

We all would be interested in following this. I will reserve futher comment pending the outcome of the first phase of his inquiry. Let's first see what Fender can or will do.

CS Jaguars are a rare bird as they are produced only through Custom orders of One-Off (or two), as they are in competition pricewise with vintage ones which are still affordable.

I recently sold my CAR US Jaguar as I almost never used it; did the same with two vintage ones. So I'm not looking for one at any price; that's why I never ordered one from the CS

But I liked LPB color and the reasonable relicing of yours.

PS you're doing nice music BTW. Congrats.

Just a little aside; Several years back I formulated an idea for a Jag with a vintage fixed bridge and either humbuckers or Lace Sensors Blue at the neck and Dual Red at the bridge,) with the coil splitting circuit I had in my '93 Tele plus. I also would have put a Clapton neck on that guitar.

They didn't go THAT far at Fender but they MUST have been reading my mind out there considering what's in the product line currently.

The preference for the Jaguar also lies in the 24.75 neck scale, a la the LP, which many players prefer as being more playable.

Now I have e-mailed with the guy who brought the guitar to Norway...
He said he bought it from an american collector. It is supposedly one of 2 Jags that was built for NAMM (2001?).

Maybe that could be the reason for the dating of the COA?

She sounds so sweeeeeet! :D

I must admit that this guitar fits my style much better than I expected.
I was not 100% sure that it would be the right thing....

But this is a keeper!
