I inserted a microcontroller into a guitar.
I used a starcaster by fender that i got as a christmas present (my first guitar) and I gutted it for a different project. I had to get a new pickguard and parts and my budget was low, so i only have one pickup and one volume potentiometer. It works well, but the battery only works when i make it run off of 5 volts, if i use the full 9 the battery gets hot. I must have used the wrong potentiometer, but hey it was a good learning experience.

Ignoring the fact that this is the wrong forum for your post, what does the microcontroller do?

wait...this folder isn't for custom work? (sorry, i'm young and new here)

the microcontroller right now, acts as a battery.
In the future, i plan to build on the idea of having an open way of adding whatever i need.
for instance, let's say i build a pedal, Instead of building something seperate, i can just wire it directly into the guitar with the breadboard and a toggle switch.

the microcontroller not only let's me have a programmable interaction with the guitar, but it also allows me to make add ons like you couldn't believe. I've been toying with the idea of having a guitar synthesizer.
With the addition of the microcontoller to the guitar, and a little electronics knowledge, the possibilities are only limited by my imagination. (and money)

No, this is the forum for discussions about Fender Custom Shop guitars. You should probably post things like this here:

viewforum.php?f=2

Sounds interesting but there are alrady several guitars on the market with progammable digital interfaces and controllers. Come up with something new and unique and you might have something worth marketing. Many years ago when I graduated college and IC op-amps had just come into the market at reasonable prices, I designed and built a pre-amp/active tone control that fit inside of a Les Paul Style guitar (Except for the battery. There was no room and I didn't have the tools to route out a space for it.) years before things like the Clapton mid-boost were available. I wasn't smart enough to capitalize on it then. If I had, I might have been able to retire by the time I was 25.

actually in a way this is an original idea.
i see you recognize that there is a guitar add on called the Korg Kaoss Pad
but the components inside that thing make it very precarious to do any electronic editing in it, instead it has a seperate output jack that you connect to control various other electronics, and pre built effects.
Even if this isn't the most original or best idea, keep in mind it's a project that I, the 18 year old kid, who lives in todays society where radioshack is useless, built from scratch. Granted, this isn't the most marketable idea torwards today's "give-me" generation, I personally feel like it's a good one to share with my close friends, and family.

I think it's amazing and quite innovative. I applaud anybody who takes their guitar apart.

...coming from one who knows. The man's already got a circuit modification named after him.

wait...you seriously like my idea?
Ok, just for clarification, THE MIKE ELDRED says it's "amazing and innovative"???

this makes up for all the frustration i went through making the thing.
