"Not all Crashocasters were shipped with graffiti-painted guards. Some featured a plain 8-hole white pickguard."
None of the genuine 50 Fender Crashocasters painted by John "CRASH" Matos and Masterbuilt by Todd Krause had a white pickguard.
Even the control plate could not be reproduced afterward.
Some minor series surfaced afterward even with a matching amp but nothing to compare; Not artistically of course but as collectibles.
Show me the first 50 original "Crashocaster" ...
PS I can't even find them anymore because the modernguitars site is out...

Here's one :? - though I'm not certain as 100% if it's a part of the 50 Crashocasters you're talking about.

Image

For the instance the guitar in question belongs to John Mayer and - unlike the aforementioned Crashocasters - this particular model sports a trio of Big Dippers.

Image

Seems the pickguard has been replaced by a standard 3-layer 11-hole aged mint.

UPDATE: Here's the link for the first batch of Crashocasters you're looking for. Sorry, there are too many pictures.

Oh, you're right about the pickguards, none of them sport an 8-hole white guard! :o

Hope this helps!

Bonne année,

John

I've seen a couple of Crashocasters with Lace Sensors while surfing on the Internet, but this one caught my attention:

Image

Here's a Crash 3 replica with the Laces built by the late Ed Roman. I wonder for which reason the original was not shipped with Lace Sensors as an option :?

Apart Todd Krause, Larry Brooks, Mike Stevens, Gene Baker, Jay W. Black and Mark Kendrick, they were other guys who had built Eric's personal axes throughout the decades such as Art Esparza, Jason Davis, the late John English, Alan Hamel and Yuriy Shishkov.

Image

Speaking of Yuriy, I like very much the so called Russian Stratocaster which I consider one of the most beautiful masterpieces he had built.

This is truly an eye-catching guitar with an absolutely amazing flame maple top and an outstanding cherry sunburst finish :P The matching pickguard and headstock are the icing to the cake.

Image

The first version features an aged white pearloid pickguard and white parchment plastic parts.

Image

I believe you've the second version of the Russian Strat in your collection.

The upper photo is the 2nd version of the Russian Strat
Again 10 made all in only for russian market
The lower photo is not the first version.
The second version differs from the first version by a birdseye maple neck instead of a flamed maple neck and a matching headstock instead of a natural headstock.
We have one of each version.

The pictured guitar in question has only the matching pickguard as opposed to the photo from the guitar I've posted above which had both the matching guard and headstock.

Alain was kind enough to share the arrival of this guitar with us. It was in the month of July, three or four years ago if memory serves. An interesting adventure facilitated, I believe by one Commander James Bond. 8) That guitar totally knocked me over and still continues to do so everytime. I would certainly trust Alain on this one regarding the details, mate. Now if I can only cajol Romanova to translate those specs......Just might cost me a candlelight lobster/champagne dinner.
