I'm only drawing from his comments regarding his guitar preferences and trust he's representing same with his photo. I expect to be corrected if not.

Many thanks for the clarification. Other than Eric Clapton, who else could it have been.

Just to show how I like wacko/marble finishes.

But James Tyler is not alone.

John Suhr, who was a Senior Master Builder at the CS came up with his own "drip" finishes, which is not dissimilar to Jim's "schmears".

The Crashocaster you've posted does not have the "Elite" circuitry as opposed to the original Crash III. Also, the "graffiti canvas" pattern is different and the neck has 21 frets instead of 22.

Here's another Crashocaster:

This particular one was essentially an American Series Stratocaster finished in "graffiti canvas".

..and the icing to the cake: two Crash-inspired guitars built by John Page. Not a Strat, but one of his own designs!

Here are two adorable babies I like a lot. Each represents a particular period on Clapton's spanning carreer.

The only differences between EC's originals and the actual CS creations are the pickup configurations and wiring schemes.

Ah, you handpicked your own choice from Guitarmotel..
Good taste.
The 50 Crashocasters are not technically "EC Strats" and they were never intended to be.
The Todd Krause masterbuilt Mercedes Blue Strat is 100 % similar to Eric's own at that period of time.

Yep :) with a few differences regarding the pickup configuration and wiring.

The original Mercedes Blue Strat Mark Kendrick had built for Eric in 1996 featured Lace Sensor pickups and the TBX circuit as opposed to the TK Masterbuilts which sport Vintage Noiseless pickups and a standard tone pot.

:?: : I suppose TK also crafted the goldleafed guitar pictured above the shot taken from the North Sea Festival gig I used as a reference subject - or it's another MK masterpiece?

From what I see Fender reissued the Gold Leaf Stratocaster in 2004 eight years after the original EC-1 came into the scene in 1996. Only 50 examples were made so far.

FYI Clapton used a fan's Gold Leaf during the One More Car, One More Rider world tour in Japan circa 2001/02.

...hence's the reason for which they lack off the "Elite" circuitry and a 22-fret neck (excepting the American Series Strat pictured below the guitars shown in the photos you've had posted).
