What a funny question.

YEP the EC Red project has been abandoned because Eric hasn't approved the colour yet.

Maybe he'll change his mind next year.

Oh, c'mon man, please let's stick to the facts. How can you possibly say that the project has been abandoned? No official (or unofficial) announcement has ever been made that there was a project in the first place, so to say that this was abandoned is pure speculation.

The grigio silverstone finish is quite tricky under the lights and often appears darker. It also has a metallic quality which the Mercedes Blue lacks and, in the flesh, Mercedes Blue is close to black than the grey. IMHO, the guitar in the Holy Mother video is not EC Grey. The guitar in the 31 March closeup IS. But what the hell do I know :!:

The video is from a mid-nineties performance in Hide Park. Long before the introduction of EC Grey. Color in the vid is Merc blue. BWT, Merc blue is also a metallic finish.

+2000!

EC Grey is close to Pewter.

The concert was filmed in June 29th, 1996.

Originally available as a VHS cassette in 1997, it was released as a DVD in 2001.

Never saw the Hyde Park concert in laserdisc.

FYI the Japanese laserdisc version is a bit longer. No sure if you've this or the shorter US version of that laserdisc.

This album deserves a Mercedes Blue EC Custom!

I don't know if this counts for anything, but I played a Clapton Master Built AAAA grade flamed neck in RED at my local guitar center, so maybe the project was not abandoned after all?
Best,
M.

Looking at the sleeve I'd say it's US (nothing to indicate Japanese). Says it's NTSC with a running time of 90mins. However, there is an 'insert' inside with the disc that has a lot of 'Also available EC stuff' in Japanese.

Can't remember when I bought it but it must have been sometime in the late nineties as I was in my previous house. Never ever even used it (never actually bought a player! haha) and it's in absolutely pristine condition :)

Sounds like a 'one-off', and definitely within the realm of the EPC car's paint. Do you recall who built it? Wouldn't be surprised if were TK. I'm sure there's a way to back track the serial # on that guitar and find out what paint was used. Maybe you can give it a shot and follow up for us.

Then the EC Red project is not dead and - very likely - the final guitar (if approved) would be released in 2014.

Notwithstanding your high hopes, I wouldn't jump to conclusions. I'd be first wondering why FMIC would have a Guitar Center showing such an instrument in its Platinum Room if FMIC is anticipating doing a run of EPC Red's. Did GC special order such a guitar, or did a customer walk out on the project?

Perhaps the customer who ordered this one-off was fascinated by Eric's red car.

Or it would likely be a prototype - who cares? :?
