On topic; with the whole string of EC models coming out this year me thinks chances are pretty thin we'll see an EC Red Clapton Strat...

good indication will be what he uses on his upcoming tour and Crossroads...i guess the smart money is on grigio (with maybe a daphne for altered tuning or slide, if needed).

I'll have to go back and check that one! With Top Gear I do tend to record & fast-forward through a lot of it (nearly missed Eric due to that!). Some of their silly games bore me these days.

For those who are waiting for the EC Red LTD, the CS must obtain Eric's own approval first before the project finally came into fruition!

This project will never came into fruition, folks.

Clapton apparently rejected the idea and stays with EC Grey.

After watching the Phoenix gig on the tube I've had noticed he used EC Grey exclusively for the electric repertoire.

There was no "EPC Rosso" and "Daphne Blue" in the rack; seems that he rejected the idea for the 2013 EC Red LTD and decided to no longer use the Daphne live.

On the other side Clapton brought back My Father's Eyes and Tears In Heaven, two tracks which were "retired" from his repertoire 9 years ago.

We expect a solid haircut a la Yardbirds during the hiatus following the second half of his Old Sock tour.

Let you all in on a little secret I've been keeping now that they've been made public. Three years ago I was most priviledged to enjoy a late supper with Mike Eldred and company after the Music Zoo Road Show on Long Island. I came to learn from Paul Waller himself, who confirmed what I had already been told by another Forum member who witnessed the event in Chicago, the he was going to build guitars for Buddy Guy. That's the year that they spec'd out Guy's '89 CS at the Crossroads concert. Nearly three years later, this month, Vintage Guitar does a cover story on Buddy and the guitar project which appears to be an irridescent blue polka dot version of the '89, coming 'soon'. [I'd been hoping for the blond guitar.] Another thing I was sworn to secrecy about was that the following day the team was going out to LI's east end to visit with Richie Blackmore about doing a signature guitar. I assume that was the anticipated project just released. So what I am about here is to give you some idea of the lead time involved in the development of ideas and bringing them to market. For sure, our histories with the Gilmour, Mayer, Holly, and both Clapton projects should support that contention as well. Hence, I wouldn't jump to conclusions about anything Clapton might or might not have in the works with Fender. What suits his interest is what will go forward. I have absolutely no information in that regard One can only be patient, and hope, without jumping to conclusions. However, where the Forum FSR guitar is concerned, when I write 'the fat lady has not yet sung', I do so with more than just speculation.

He rejected your idea? That's not nice. Or perhaps he hasn't seen the thread? Someone email him a link. I bet he's derek@hotmail.com

I rented a Buick LaCrosse at SEATAC airport for use during my week out here in WA. It's finished in Storm Grey Metallic which is close to grigiosilverstone..so I'm feeling quite at home in it. [They never heard of EPC 'red']
