Hello all here, just my first post here.
Just found a beauty set neck strat in the storage of my friend, he bought it in 1995, it got a serial# of RD001, but i have no clue what that means, see if anyone knows the background of this?
Many thanks :)

This guitar has two Texas Specials and a Duncan Trembucker pickup. Pickguard is absent and the controls are back routed.

Earlier Set-Necks featured Lace Sensor pickups in an Ultra configuration and a 4-ply white shell pickguard.

Ooooh. That sure is something else. Love the green and the matching headstock.

Interesting... I love what would be a rev-headstock, though the logo is upside down... but clearly that finish matches the body, so this was done purposely.

I take it the fret markers are in the correct location?

If I saw that in a store, I'd buy that... grats!

Talk about so-called 'closet classics'!! Never cease to be amazed at some of the rare birds flying around out there.

This black Set-Neck Ultra LTD dates from 1993.

Interesting...but it doesn't help to identify the OP's guitar, which is somewhat different.

Given the date, that would be John Page's signature. As for the RD001...would they have issued a COA on an R&D project or just kept it in house. I would either post this on Eldred's forum or email Consumer Affairs[mroberts@fender.com], or both.

I've been looking at this and it ALMOST matches a couple of different Custom Shop Models. I also tried tracking the serial and unfortunately it doesnt track in our system(s).
So, I'm also not quite sure what it is. I honestly don't think that John would remember at this point after the multitude of guitars he's worked on and seen, but I might run it by him and see if he can still scare me with his memory.

A slight correction......well not really a correction....well......anyway....
although Mike Roberts IS a very helpful soul on the Consumer Relations team....and will always help if possible...the correct email address is consumerrelations@fender.com

That way...if Mike takes a vacation, or is sick, or is on a reaaaalllly long lunch...you'll still get an answer. All the guys are good and committed to helping folks.

Cheers,
rob
