Suppose you reply as such to the sender who answered you and suggest to them that the consensus of many on the Forum is that the specs are mis-represented in this case and should be corrected in kind.

Doc

I did exactly that. The response I received was:

"The only Custom Shop Eric Clapton models without TBX are the
Masterbuilts".

My response to them would be....then let the catalog reflect that, or make it known when the order is placed that there is a difference in the circuitry depending on build. The buyer should have the option of choice.

THOSE EXCEPTIONS should be specified in the catalog so that a potential buyer knows their options.,

I've put the question to them and I will relay any response I receive.
"Why the subtle difference and why not make it known?"

Doc.

Are you at liberty to tell us how this order came about and if the cost exceeded the customary masterbuilt fee? Most of us have a feeling for what the shop charges, (Mine would have been an additional 2K masterbuilt.) allowing for the fact that this was an '03 order date.

Doc

Three participants of another Fender Forum ( from which I have been banned for not kowtowing to its despotic rules) agreed to order 3 similar EC Strats from Todd Krause, one of the main EC Strats Masterbuilders, so to get a better price, being agreed such trio would be 100% similar to the ones made for Eric himself: different neck shape, very light satin finish, no TBX, Mercedes Blue.no signature.
When delivered, one of the buyers was somewhat disturbed about the slim and narrow V neck of the guitar and decided to sell it at cost. Then it belonged to me.
The price was quite reasonable IMO.

ALAIN: The Custom Shop responded to my inquiry as to a build according to those specs as follows; "due to contractual agreement a guitar cannot be built to those specs".

You and two others have yourselves a rare one particularly if your COA's reflects the specificity of the build. Unfortunate for the seller for whom the neck was too thin to his liking.
Well done!

Hi Doc,

Interesting info indeed. It was already a keeper, but even more now!

Thanks

Alain

Ok the way i understand this is.
Tribute guitars are limited quantity replica's or masterbuilt one offs.
Customshop Artist guitars are customshop factory run.
Signature series are regular factory run

I have to ask, im confused. I've been offered a customshop clapton for a ridiculously low price (i suspect due to time of year). With case and Coa.
I'm trying to work out if its worth the space it will take up.
