Sounds like a great guitar! You may be able to get some more info on the guitar if you contact consumerrelations@fender.com and give them the serial number and other details that you already have.

Hi Pete,
mine is R62929.
Where did you buy it and what do you think about it?
What does the serial number stand for (i can't imagine more than 60000 guitars like ours are made)
Hear you back mate,

Ruud

Hi Ruud,

I bought it at SESSION Music in Frankfurt/Germany where I live. R might stand for Reissue, but I don't know what the number says. By odd reasons Custom Shop guitars can not be found in online dating systems. Normally R + 5 digits stands for a guitar which has been made in Japan in 2004 8)
Cheers, Pete

I always watch Session's videos on youtube! their staff can definitely play! especially the fellow who did the video for the CS Rory Gallagher Strat.

Always wanted to visit Session, I was in Frankfurt last year performing at MusikMesse, but unfortunately my schedule didn't allow me to make it to the shop... one day though I'll make it haha

You're talking about Oli Lohmann I guess (that's the guy on the Session commercial banner).
You definatly have to visit the store, the amount of guitars they have is huge and the custom shop is great, filled with Fenders, Gibsons, some PRS and from time to time some Nik Huber guitars. And if you'll have some time give me a call, we can go to Sachsenhausen and drink some Ebbelwoi :D
